Chapter 30: Responses

After hearing such a story from Izuku, they comforted him first. The group noticed how tense the green haired boy was the whole time he was storytelling, how his stutter seemed to worsen reliving that dreadful memory. He's calmed down now which they were definitely happy about. He's been such a great person, very good friend, kind and nice to everyone even though the other party's not the nicest to him. They've just been quiet the whole time, it wasn't awkward or uncomfortable but Izuku was still fiddling with his fingers for some reason.

"You okay, Izuku?" Katsuki asked, breaking the silence

Izuku nodded.

"I- I j- just... I di- didn't e-expect y- you gu- guys r- reacting li- like t- that." He mumbled

"Like what?" Ochako questioned

"Li- like so a- accepting.. an- and n- not ju- judging me." Izuku answered as he avoided their eyes

"Dude, we'd never do that!" Eijirou stated

"Yes, that'd just make us like the guys who did bad things to you." Shouto said

"Although we understand why you'd think so. You haven't been treated nicely." Tsuyu added

"Sorry for making you feel like that, Izuku." Momo said as he caressed Izuku's back as her mother instincts slightly kicked in

"Yeah, we try to be understanding. We don't exactly know the feeling of how it's like being in the situation you were in and we could only imagine in the least but we'd never like that to happen to you again." Kyouka told him

Izuku nodded at them as he softly smiled.

"Th- thank you f- for be- being so u- understanding."

"Oh it's nothing, it's the least we could do. I know you're gonna say that we don't have to, but yes we do, it's our choice and we chose to understand you and be there for you." Mina smiled at him as he patted his head

"We might act all silly and stuff, but when it comes to our friends, we get serious. No one's allowed to hurt our friends, and their friends until it reaches everyone and no one hurts them anymore." Denki chuckled

"Everyone deserves to be happy in the very least, satisfied and doesn't have anything to fear, much less people who are not even worth the time to be worrying over." Hitoshi stated

"It takes someone a long time to find eternal happiness, but when together, it's a lot easier. Life of course isn't all fun and games but it doesn't mean that it always has to be dark and depressing." Tenya chimed in

"If you ain't feelin' like yourself or somethin', we're here. Remember that, Izuku." Katsuki stated sternly

The smaller looked at all of them. They weren't pitying him, unlike those "classmates" he had before. They saw how much bullying and harassment he got every day, but they never did anything. Never told any teachers, never tried to save him or something. It's as if they were ignoring all the bad things done to him at the time, as if he was invisible. But these people, the friends he managed to find, were basically perfect. They weren't there at the time the bullying, all the bad things that happened to him, happened. They didn't even know he existed, didn't have any idea who he was, what his past was and everything about him was basically unknown until he met them.

Even from the moment he met them, the moment he spoke, they never judged or made fun of him for having a stutter. Sure, they might've been confused but they didn't poke at the subject and just accepted him for who he is.

Again, they weren't present when he was being harassed or bullied, yet here they are, being so understanding, it's unbelievable. For someone like Izuku, this felt like paradise, like something that he's been missing out on. Real friends, he's never had those. Well, until now. He should've realized then when the moment he met them, those times they didn't say any kind of word of judgment about him, he should've known then that they were great people to have and keep in one's life, and he's blessed enough to have them in his, to have them be a part of his previously boring, unpleasant life. Good friends that would have his back in times that he needs comfort and reassurance and company.

He can't express his gratitude enough other than multiple thank yous to them.

"T- thank you... th- thank y- you so m- much..." Izuku muttered as he kept his head down to them

If he knew they'd be like this, he could've told them about it earlier, but now is better than never.

"I- I'm s- so g- glad I me- met y- you, all o- of y- you." He added

They all internally cooed hearing that from Izuku himself. They were pretty sure that if the smaller boy was prone to bullies, no one was willing enough to be his friend because they didn't want to be involved in the mess. If they were there at the time, they would gladly be by his side and defend him as much as they can because he didn't deserve anything that came his way. It's about time that he gets the treatment he deserves, the kind of people he needs to be with, and experiences the things he missed out because of all the people that ruined his childhood for him.

"We're also glad we met you too, 'Zuku!" Mina smiled, pulling Izuku into a hug which Denki voluntarily joined, but was welcomed

"Yeah! We could use a cute, shy friend which you're perfect to be entitled with!" Denki cheerfully stated

Izuku blushed and giggled as he hugged them back.

Ochako also joined in with them.

"We're so happy that you like being with us, Izuku." She smiled

"Agreed, we're not perfect of course but we try." Tsuyu giggled

Momo smiled at the sight of them hugging.

"All of us are glad that we're able to meet you and make you feel comfortable enough to share your past."

"Yeah dude, it's hard to just share with new people. We know you've known us for a while but that's pretty deep stuff." Hanta stated

"Thanks for telling us that, we hope it eased you, even for just a bit." Shouto added

"Whenever ya need us, we're just here for you, Izuku. We'll always be. So if any fuckers mess with you again, tell us and we'll deal with 'em for you." Katsuki huffed with his arms crossed

Izuku giggled and nodded at them.

"I- I wi- will." He replied as he smiled
