"That's so fucking cool," Silus whispered, like his voice would have made the mass amount of bodies slip right back under the surface of the earth.

I called on whoever would help, and by the looks of it, about ninety five percent of the graveyard rose from their graves. Once again, there were all different stages of decay around us. Some of the bodies looked like they'd just been buried that day, while others had skin mostly eaten by maggots and other bugs.

I stood, lifting my hand from the ground, and looked around, trying not to think about the fact that I wasn't drained of blood. If anything, I barely put any into the ground.

I allowed the teams to pick out their people, and successfully handed over the power with the only stipulation being that they treat the dead as if they were alive. They came out of their graves to help me. They didn't need to be ordered around like slaves.

The walk to the house was fine, up until the point we reached the forest. I could see better than most at night, but with the trees blocking most of the light, it was like an obstacle course.

"So," Silus sidled up next to me like he walked through dark forests daily, "how powerful are you, really? You raised...what? Over one hundred bodies?"

"I don't know how many people I raised." I kept my eyes trained on the ground, trying not to trip as the psychopath next to me didn't even struggle. What the hell was that about?

"So why did you need us?" He caught me when my foot caught on a tree branch. "Also, lift your feet a bit higher. You're gliding them. When you put your foot down, you can recognize what's under them and balance accordingly."

Easier said than done.

It wasn't just him though. Lucian and Kyler walked over the rough terrain just fine as well. And Kieran looked straight up bored.

"All powers have setbacks." I didn't know how many times I had to say that.

I started lifting my feet higher, but it made me move a bit slower, though it didn't seem like anyone minded.

"And what's your setback?" He caught me again when I stepped down a little too hard and slid on a fucking rock.

I clenched my eyes shut and shot them open, hoping that would help me see better. It didn't, and I probably looked like I was insane. Good thing Silus was the only one really paying me any attention, and he didn't seem to mind the crazy in my eyes.

"I don't know what my setback is," I said. "That's the problem. I'd rather be cautious. Imagine over one hundred dead bodies going rogue."

He cringed at the image.

Especially with my energy, if I lost control and didn't let go of that energy, a lot of damage could be done. People assumed the zombie apocalypse would happen due to a chemical plant exploding or something equally as cliché. It would probably happen because an over-zealous necromancer lost control.

Hello, I'm said over-zealous necromancer.

"I don't know why they don't like you." Silus stared straight ahead. "While your power is terrifying, and I'd hate to be on the bad end of your anger, I don't think it's something to really fear or hate. You don't seem the type to be vengeful."

We were literally walking to a vampire's house to get my mom back with a hoard of dead people surrounding us. I wasn't vengeful? He would think differently once we were done, especially if they hurt my mom in any way. I'd have to ask how he felt about that, if he decided to stay a bit after all was said and done.

When I didn't respond, he looked around like he just realized what we were doing.

"Well," he said, turning the conversation, "mind giving me your number after all this? I'd love for you to visit. Also, if I ever need help with something big..."

I felt Kieran, Lucian, and Kyler's eyes on us. I didn't even have to look at them to know they were staring daggers at Silus.

Once again...they got rid of their jealousy with each other but God forbid anyone else even hint that they were interested. Though, if I was being honest, it was somewhat endearing. To have them completely okay with each other now, but still sharing the same dislike of anyone else showing interest.

"Silus," his female counterpart said. "Give it a rest. Sorry, Nova. He's a bit power hungry."

Silus looked absolutely offended. "I was just asking her to be my friend, Lilly!"

Lilly rolled her eyes. "Friends with benefits both in bed and outside of it."

I ran my hand over my face. I didn't want to get into that one. It sounded like the two of them had some history, and I wasn't about to get into the middle of it. Not with the weight of three other eyes on us.

The house came into view and I stopped, my eyes scanning over the lit up windows, watching for a silhouette or something. I was hoping I'd see my mom, a smile on her face as she spoke to someone. Even though I disliked my father, I'd rather her be smiling at him, instead of looking on in fear.

Without being told, the necromancers spread out throughout the forest, keeping to the shadows. I didn't turn when Silus said goodbye. I just kept staring ahead.

"Are you sure you don't want one of us to go in?" Lucian stepped up beside me. "I don't like this plan."

I looked behind us at the remaining dead and nodded. There were so many. They all stood there, waiting for me to tell them what to do. A couple of them shuffled on their feet, which was such an alive movement that it almost made me uncomfortable. They all had their wits and their memories, as well as their mannerisms from when they were alive. I could have taken that from them, but I asked those who wanted to help me to come out. I couldn't force them, knowing they came from their resting place to help me get my mom back.

"I'd like you to go in first," I said to the group. "About fifteen or twenty of you now, and I'll call the rest of you if needed."

I hadn't realized so many would come to my aid. Hell, I hadn't realized I could raise that many.

A group walked forward, and one of the females touched my shoulder as she walked by. "We'll get her. Don't you worry."

I watched as they made their way up to the house. Then I watched as one of the men kicked the door down.

Then I heard the screams from someone inside as twenty zombies poured into the house.
