Chapter 19: Virus

Cam glided down into the landing bay. He slid on the metal landing pad gracefully before flipping and landing on his feet.

Leon landed but didn't do any tricks. He noticed the looming building as he placed 8-bit down, the arcade machine started walking into the building. Some soldiers waved at the trio's arrival and they started talking into their headset.

"We have arrived, but you and I will need to have checks before we enter the main room." Cam informed as he motioned for the two to follow him.

Leon shrugged his shoulders and kept a maintained composure as he entered the building. 8-bit gave no expression whatsoever.

The flooring was a comfortable wood texture. It was thick as they treaded with muttered steps. The flooring sounded like sliding as Leon noticed Cam sliding a little like what a bored teenager in school would do. The walls felt like waxed bricks made of concrete. Leon continued following the camera bot as they approached a large gantry.

"Halt! Major Cam! You know the drill." A highly armoured rapien boomed in a low voice. Cam smiled at the two brawlers behind him and stepped through a transparent cyan barrier. A reassuring "ding!" allowed Leon to confidently enter through the gantry. He also got a "ding!"

8-bit huffed as he steeped through slowly. Something in him was stirring.

??? POV:

What the hell! What's this giant cyan barrier doing here? Argh whatever! I guess we can try our new power of invisibility. This makes infecting safely so much easier!"

8-bit passed the checking and they proceeded to enter the main rooms. They continued forward and did some turns here and there.

Eventually, they reach an elevator with Cam pressing button "Civilian sector" The elevator is sent up and left and right. This reminds me of Charlie and the chocolate factory... Leon thought.

After a short woozy ride, the elevator stopped at a district of shops and houses. There were crowds of different alien races trading and chatting. Some were eating, some were selling and some were doing miscellaneous things.

Leon, Cam and 8-bit walked by everyone while keeping on the road in the middle. Occasionally, people will wave at the trio.

After leaving the district, they came across many buildings. Some were floating and flying around. There were malls, schools, hospitals, factories and so for. The trio entered another elevator but this one just brought them up.

They reached the 11 floor and Leon was told by Cam that his room was room N087. Leon nodded and got to finding his room. "Oh by the way, you may find your friends trying to find their rooms. So here's a map. Free map." Cam mimicked the last two lines from somewhere.

Leon caught the map and did his search. 8-bit also received the same. The lizard hooded boy left swiftly, eager to find his apartment. Leon widened the map with half of his arm length and studied it. "Left...right...and...hmm...heh I think I kn..."

"And I'm lost." Leon muttered.

He stood in a cross hallway and placed a palm on his head in disappointment.

Just then, a girl in yellow with red pigtails, bumped into Leon, who was currently scratching his head from a map. "Hey! Watch where yo-" Leon recognised the girl and stopped himself. The girl gasped as she noticed the green hoodie. "Leon! You're back!" Jessie squealed. She came in for a hug and Leon embraced it. "I thought you'd never comeback!" Jessie emphasised. Leon smiled and broke from the hug. He scratch his head and chuckled, "It takes more than little birds to take me out heheh."
