Alex's pov
I was attending the meeting Ian wanted me so bad to be at, sat between Matt and Jamie, in a room filled with people I didn't know. Ian was talking about future shows and I couldn't care less. The buzz in my pocket was a relief, I instantly pull out my phone, trying to hide it underneath the table that covered my legs. It was a message from Arabella:

from Arabella, 11:45 a.m.
U arrived at the meeting?

from you, 11:45 a.m.
Yeah, bloody boring

from Arabella, 11:49 a.m.
Show them the comb you have in your pocket and you'll see how fast they'll run away

I smiled as I saw the text and let out a soft chuckle, that everybody heard. I looked up as the silence filled the room, to see everybody staring at me. «Alex we are talking about important things.» Ian scolded me.
I cleared my throat and put my phone away.

Arabella's pov
After I took a shower, I checked my phone and saw a call from Evie; with a bath towel that wrapped me like a burrito, I put some music on and recalled Evie.
«Is he still there?» she asked me as soon as she answered.
«Who?» I asked confused.
«Alex,» she said. «is he still there?»
I scratched my head. «How do you-»
«Oh please,» she interrupted. «Chase and I left for a reason,» she said. «did you take the opportunity?»
I smiled and sighed. «It's none of your business Evie.»
She exulted happy. «I knew it.»
«You called just for this?» I asked putting the call on speaker, as I brushed my hair.
«Well yes I- Wait what are listening to? I can hear music.» It was usual for Evie to interrupted herself whenever so get distracted by something or someone, especially during calls.
«I put the Toxiticy's CD Chase gave me for Christmas like... two years ago.» I said.
«Oh okay,» she said. «I was saying, I called you 'cause I was curious, but I bet you don't wanna give me details.»
«No Evie I won't.»
She sighed. «Well thanks for your kindness, tonight I'll come over... or you made plans with your new boyfriend?» she teased me.
«He's not my boyfriend and no, we haven't planned anything.»
«Can Chase come too?» she asked.
«Obviously, everybody can come... except Kristen.»

Alex's pov
«So, are you like... a thing now?» Nick asked me.
I scratched the back of my neck. «Don't know.»
«She's the best one yet.» Jamie said.
I frowned. «Why'd mean?» I asked confused.
He shrugged. «I like her, she's cool.»
I nodded. «Right...»
Matt walked in with James on his side. «New song, huh?» James said. «I wanna hear it.»
James sat on his office chair, while Nick, Jamie, Matt and I were on the couch in front of him. «It's- It's like a ballad, we can play the acoustic version first.»
James nodded. «Yeah sure,» he said. «you already know how to play it non-acoustic?» I looked at the others that nodded with me. «Great, get your guitar and let me hear it.»
I grabbed my guitar and sat on a wooden stool; Matt stayed on his seat, with a tambourine. «I called it "No. 1 Party Anthem".» I said. I cleared my throat and gave a strum to the guitar to check it. «Okay so,» I said embarrassed. The transition from speaking and signing always made me quite uncomfortable. «So you're on the prowl wondering whether
She left already or not
Leather jacket, collar popped like Cantonna
Never knowing when to stop
Sunglasses indoors, par for the course
Lights in the floors and sweat on the walls
Cages and poles» As I was singing I looked at the fretboard, to not make eye contact with anyone, since again, it made me uncomfortable. «Call off the search for your soul
Or put it on hold again
She's having a sly indoor smoke
And she calls the folks who run this, her oldest friends
Sipping a drink and laughing at imaginary jokes
As all the signals are sent, her eyes invite you to approach
And it seems as though those lumps in your throat
That you just swallowed have got you going» Matt sang the chorus with me, playing the tambourine on his tight. «She's a certified mind blower
Knowing full well that I don't
May suggest there's somewhere from which I might know her
Just to get the ball to roll
Drunken monologues, confused because
It's not like I'm falling in love, I just want ya
To do me no good
And you look like you could»
The room was dead-silent as I was playing, which meant that, they either loved it and were too amazed by it to speak, or they hate it and were quiet for the embarrassment. I continued playing and with Matt we sang the chorus, to then get to my favorite part of the song. «The look of love, the rush of blood
The "She's with me"'s, the Gallic shrug
The shutterbugs, the Camera Plus
The black & white and the color dodge
The good time girls, the cubicles
The house of fun, the number one
Party anthem, oh»
For the last time, Matt and I sang the chorus and we finished. James started applauding as he looked at us with a smile. «I love it,» he said. «can't wait to produce it.»
Both me and Matt smiled and from there, we started the recordings.
The song was about Arabella and everybody noticed it, I didn't know if I wanted her to hear it and know it was about her, but I was sure that once she had heard it, she would have noticed.
