A couple of days back...

Travis McMullen's POV:

My phone buzzes and the screen flashes the name of my best brother.

"Why, hello there!" I pick up.

"What's up?" He asks.

"Nothing much, with you?" I reply.

"Same..." He says after a few moments.

"How are things going with Suzan and John?" He asks.

"A few more paperwork and they'd be officially separated." I inform him.

"Why don't you come spend the summer with us?" He offers and the idea sounds like a good one.

"I might consider." I say.

"No, don't consider. Just come." He says abruptly.

"What is it? You miss me so bad?" I smirk.

"Last time I checked, you refused to talk and had me kicked out." I tell him.

"I didn't want to talk back then. I'm now willing to though. Just get your ass here ASAP." He says and I chuckle.

"How's pretty Emma? Are you two getting along?" I ask as her image crosses my mind.

He doesn't reply.

"Luke?" I glance at the screen to make sure we were still in contact.

"Yeah, it gets worse by the minute..." He says.

"How so?" I ask.

"She's annoyingly-cheerful..." He says and I laugh.

"It's the most delightful thing about her..." I say.

"You still have a crush on her?" He asks and I chuckle.

"Maybe..." I say.

"Well, you've just got yourself another reason to come over here." He says and I frown at the thought.

"It's quite the opposite actually." I tell him.

"I can't get involved with Emma. As much as I want to, I can't give her the wrong signs." I tell him.

"Of course you can, you'd be a fool if you're still considering moving in with Jess."

"I'm not going through this again. Alright, let me hang up-" He cuts me.

"You're coming, it's final." He says and I frown at the phone.

"Wait-" I pause.

"Why are you being so pushy about this?" I inquire.

"What's it to you?" I add.

"You'd be doing me a huge favor if you do come..." He says and the line goes dead afterwards.

My mind starts tossing and turning around so many possibilities and I do reject some and consider others.

How could I possibly be doing him a favor by coming over?

I put that thought on hold and search for a flight to book.

The next morning...

I text Luke when the plane lands and take the first taxi I meet at the arrival hall.

On my way to the Kent's residence, I make a few good decisions...

One, I wasn't going to continue leading Emma on to something I can't promise.
