I sat down on a chair across from the old man and he reached his hand out. I shook his hand nervously, shifting and tapping my fingers.

Spencer and Morgan were gone, and I was alone with this old man, without Ronnie or anyone who could calm me down.

"Hello, my name is Winston, I am the judge that will be proctoring your courtroom meeting. If you would, introduce yourself and summarize why you are here" he said to me, and I bit my lip, swinging my foot.

"Err, my name is Ryker Matthews, and John Hastings has been raping and beating me for nearly 5 years now. And he tried to kill two of my friends, and he kidnapped me and locked me away underground for 6 months" I said, trembling. What if he took one look at me and kicked me out, not even giving me the time of day?

"Okay, well you just stay in this room and go over your case with your lawyer. In a few hours someone will come and pick you up and escort you to the courtroom" he told me and then he got up and walked off.

I sat in the room alone for a while, nervous. I was wondering when my lawyer would show up. Was he not coming? Did he take one look at my file and then run for the hills, not even giving me a chance?

Then the door clicked open, and I looked up hopefully, looking to see what my lawyer looked like.

But it wasn't my lawyer.

He approached me quickly, in a hurry. He grabbed my hair and pulled me to Him, breathing His putrid stench in my face. I whimpered and started shaking, beyond terrified.

This was it. He would kill me and walk out a free man. Had He already gotten to Ronnie and the others?

"My ugly little bitch, always causing trouble. You know what happens to people who cry wolf too much? They get attacked with pitchforks and burned, hanged, killed" He snarled at me. Then He punched me on my upper stomach and kneed me in the abdomen. He let go of me, and I fell to the ground coughing, hacking, gasping, unable to breathe.

He laughed at me crumpled up on the ground, and then He walked out, letting the door slam shut, locking me in here.

I pushed myself up on my hand and knees, hugging my injured arm to my chest, and limp-crawled over to my chair. I pulled myself up, and sat in the chair, leaning back and trying to find the best position to sit in where my stomach hurt the least. I couldn't find any place where it didn't hurt.

Even in this courthouse, He could still get to me, and He did. I wasn't safe anywhere.

The door opened again and I shrunk in fear, but when I peeked up I saw a middle-aged man holding a Manila folder. "Hello Ryker, my name is Ryan Sullivan, and I'll be representing you in court today" he said to me, reaching out his hand. I held out my arm and shook his hand gently, wincing at the pain of it all.

He opened the folder and shuffled through papers, saying "I'm so sorry you've had to go through this. But I'm here to make sure that today it stops forever. Now, lets start with what you're going to say—"

By the time someone had come to bring us to the court room, my head was spinning. I couldn't remember most of what Mr. Sullivan had said, and I was so nervous my stomachs somersaults were doing somersaults.

I was led into court and brought to the left side, motioned to a chair and then made to stand as Winston greeted the entire gathering.

I was made to shake hands with His lawyer, and then He came in the room.

I stiffened, and my hair stood on end. I got terrified chills, and I was cold, so cold. I clutched Ronnie's scarf and brought it to my face, closing my eyes and smelling it. Ronnie's scent wafted into my nose and I calmed down a little.

But it didnt do much good because when I opened my eyes He was standing in front of me smirking, His hand held out.

His hands were in chains, and 2 security guards were next to Him, keeping Him in line I guess.

But that wasn't enough.

I shook my head and stumbled backwards, hitting the gate separating the people involved in the court meeting and the witnesses painfully and whimpering.

I would not shake His hand. I would not willingly let Him anywhere near me, and I definitely wouldn't let any part of me be touched by Him.

I looked behind me in desperation and Ronnie stood up and leaned over the gate, wrapping me up in his arms.

I turned around and clutched him, shaking and crying. "Ronnie, don't let go of me, please get me out of here" I begged, hiding my face in his chest.

"Ry, I've got to or I'll be kicked out. We have to stay here, and then it'll really be over. He'll go away forever. I'm right behind you, I'm right here. I won't leave, I promise" he whispered to me, kissing the top of my head.

I could hear Winston asking me to take my seat, but I didn't listen. I had to be with Ronnie, I needed to be in his arms right now.

Mr. Sullivan pulled me away softly and I sniffled, rubbing my eyes.

I turned around and sat down, trembling.

I turned to my right, leaning over, to see Him sitting up confidently, a repugnant smirk on His face.

I turned behind me to see Ronnie sitting right in the front row, tapping his foot and leaning over, staring directly at me.

I turned back to the front of the courtroom, and took a deep breath.

It was beginning.
