Karmale was putting away her gun when Liam walked in.

"Today was great, Cream!"

"Yeah. Pretty exhausting though!" Karmale responded to Liam's high five.

"Pretty much! Ryxel will be waiting for that report though!" Liam reminded her.

"Oops! That slipped my mind! Thanks Liam!" Karmale dashed out.

"Hello! May i come in please?" Karmale knocked.

"Please!" Came the gruff response. She opened and walked in.

"Good evening, Ryxel."

"Straight to the point. I am busy." His eyes never left his laptop as he spoke.

"Right." Karmale sighed.

"All went well, Ryxel. " Karmale reported.

"Good!" He simply said.

"I handled everything well." She added.

"Oh! And your shadow? Won't you give him credit?" Ryxel was still looking at his PC.

"Ummm... We handled everything just fine, Ryxel."

"Great!" He said, "Go and come back with Liam. I want his report too. " Karmale went out and came in with Liam.

"Ryxel, you didn't say that i wouldn't go with Karmale so i did." Liam was in full defence mode.

"Were you of help? Or?"

"I was, Ryxel."

"Okay." He exhaled, "Step out of my convenience the two of you, kindly. " They left.

Karmale came back later to ask Ryxel to join them for dinner which was an appeal of his aunt.

"I respect that Edwardo but i am surely not making that compromise."

"Ryxel."

"Karmale-" he turned to face her with his phone glued to his ear. He was standing behind his desk and had been looking out the window.

"Nice!" Edwardo said through the phone. A cold shiver ran down Ryxel's spine.

"I'll call you later." Ryxel said dismissively.

"No. I called. So i get to end the call. Not you Black." Edwardo insisted on the other side of the line, "Talk to her. I want to hear her speak again."

"Not funny." A muscle in Ryxel's jaw moved.

"Ryxel aunt-"

"I'll be right behind you, Karmale." Ryxel cut her off.

"Okay." She nodded and walked out.

Karmale was plodding down the hall when Ryxel joined her in a bit of haste.

"I'm sorry about that Karmale." He walked besides her.

"About what?" She was perplexed.

"My tone."

"That's not an issue.  I'm accustomed to it now." She giggled.

"Accustomed?" He sounded offended.

"Yeah." There was a hint of duh in her voice.

"I'm i that impolite?" He inquired.

"I didn't say that. And it's not exactly that anyway."

"What is it?"
