Jenna's POV: It's been a couple of days since I last saw that girl at the restaurant. She's all I've been thinking about, especially at night. I should've just gotten her number. Even if she turned me down, I wouldn't have seen her again. Fuck. I got up and realized that Coen had already gone to work. Thank god. I felt a weight from my chest lift off of me. I was now in such a good mood. I got dressed in a nice outfit and wanted to go to my favorite coffee shop. Coen doesn't like coffee, so he never brings me here, I always have to bring myself. I drove there and went inside. After about ten minutes of waiting, I ordered and sat at one of the tables. I was looking around just minding my own business when I saw her. She walked in the shop and ordered. She walks so confidently, her outfits are so casual and her hair is so pretty. She sat down to the table in front of me, she was by herself. This was such a perfect chance for me. I began to question myself though, do I want her, or do I want to be her? I was unsure, maybe both. Fuck it, I was about to get up, but then my name was called for my order. I went over to the counter and got my cup. I don't like drinking my coffee in the shop, I just like sipping on it while I walk. It's now or never. I walked over to her and introduced myself.
"Hi I'm Jenna." I said as my voice began to crack. Shit. Already fucking it up.
"Oh hi, I'm Emma." She said smiling. That's the most beautiful smile I've ever seen on someone's face. I was so mesmerized by her eyes.
"Uh-sorry, I just thought you were very pretty and wanted to see if I could get your number?" I said shyly. I don't do this with anyone, but I couldn't miss this opportunity with someone so gorgeous. I felt warm heat rise in my cheeks quickly. I think she seemed to notice.
"Aw that's very sweet of you. And yeah!" She said giggling and continuing to smile at me. I gave her my phone and she typed her number in. My hands were shaking a bit, I could feel my heart beat in my head. She handed my phone back. I was about to walk away, but she stopped me.
"Why don't you sit down with me and we can get to know each other?" Emma said looking up at me. I sat down across from her and we started small talk for a while.
"I'm sorry if I interrupted any of your plans you had. I just really wanted to get to know you in person." Emma said softly. Oh she's has a big heart. I love that.
"No, please don't apologize. If I had plans I wouldn't have sat down with you. I'm glad that you wanted to get to know me. I don't just ask for anyone's number, you caught my eye." I said blushing again. I tried to hide it, but Emma's eye contact was so strong. It's like our eyes are magnets, when mine make contact with hers, she draws me in and keeps me there.
"I think you're pretty cute." She said giggling and trying to hide her smile. I found this very adorable, it made my insides melt.
"Sooo...do you want to maybe hangout sometime?? Only if you want to of course I'm not forcing anything on you if you don't want to." She said rambling. I put my hands on top of hers, but I soon interrupted by my phone buzzing. I grabbed my phone and checked who it was. Of course it was Coen. I forgot I had a boyfriend.
"Hello?" I answered flatly.
"Hi baby! What are you doing? I can't wait to see you!" He said excitedly.
"Uh-I'm kinda busy right now I'll call you back." I said and hung up the phone. I turned my attention back to Emma and holding her hands on the table.
"Who was that?" She said softly as she tilted her head.
"Oh, my friend. She dropped something off at my house." I said chuckling a bit.
"You were saying?" I said.
"Oh right! When are you free to hangout?" She asked.
"I mean, I'm not doing anything for the rest of the day." I said smiling. Her eyes lit up.
"Me too! Do you want to go to Painted Earth?" She asked.
"What's that?" I asked. I was very intrigued at her interests. I was never interested with Coen's hobbies. They're so boring.
"It's where you can pick glass figures that are white and you paint them! They have a whole variety of things you can choose from. When you're done, you turn it into one of the workers there and they bake it to make it shiny. After a couple days, you get to keep it! I always go there with my friends or just by myself." Emma said, she was smiling the whole time. I was too by just watching her.
"I love the way you explain things. You can make a book about physics sound exciting." I said laughing. She blushed and giggled.
"We should go right now." I said.
"Can I ride with you? I walked here so I didn't bring my car." She said tilting her head slightly.
"Yeah let's go. You'll just have to give me directions to get there." I said as I held my hand out for her to take. The feeling of her hand in mine sent electricity through my entire body. This is the feeling I'm supposed to have with someone.
******
It took us a while to get there. I made a lot of wrong turns, missed exits, speeding through red lights, and much more chaos.
"You're a reckless driver Jenna! We could've died. " Emma said laughing.
"But we didn't, right?" I said grinning. We were already so comfortable with each other. My life has never been filled with so much joy before. Emma practically dragged me in the shop. We started looking at all the glass models they had.
"You act like a kid in a candy shop when you're in here." I said smiling at her. I couldn't control my admiration for her.
"I'm gonna choose this one! What about you Jenna?" She said, holding up a glass bear.
"What animal do you think would suit me?" I asked looking around. Emma went straight for the glass cat and handed it to me.
"A cat?" I questioned.
"Yeah! I have one at home, I love him a lot. He just reminds me of you for some reason. I guess I'm just so comfortable with you like I am with him." She said softly. I smiled at this. I'm always smiling around her, it's a habit now. My heart felt like it was going to explode out of excitement. Emma led me to where all the paints were.
"Why'd you choose a bear?" I asked.
"I wanted to try something new this time. Our glass models match! I'm the the bear and you're the cat...since you're short." She said giggling.
"That's now very funny." I said trying to hide my smile.
"Oh you know you like it." She said smirking at turning her attention to the paints. We picked out a few and went back to our table.
"I'm not very good at painting." I said.
"Don't worry you'll get the hang of it. Everyone starts somewhere right?" She said. Every word she says is like music to my ears. I heard my phone buzz from a notification. I instantly knew it was Coen again, but I decided to ignore it. I need to move on from this relationship. It's not worth my time and energy. He doesn't fit my idea of happiness.
"Who's blowout up your phone like crazy?" Emma asked. Should I tell her the truth? That I have a boyfriend? I'm gonna lose this thing we have going on if I tell her.
"Jenna?"
"Hm?"
"Who was that?" She said looking at me. It's only right to be honest.
"I know this is gonna sound weird. I have a boyfriend that's making me miserable ever since we've been together. I'm breaking up with him when I get home today. I'm tired of being with someone who doesn't give me space." I said looking into her beautiful blue eyes. She seemed a little shocked.
"Oh. Well you're making the right decision to leave him. You deserve to be happy. I've never been in a relationship, but I know being miserable is terrible...especially with someone you don't like." Emma said comforting me. I was surprised at her answer.
"So, you still want this to continue?" I said pointing at us back and forth.
"Of course! As long as you break up with him." She said. We painted and talked for a while. I was really enjoying this.
"You should pay attention more to your painting, it looks like someone threw up on it!" Emma said laughing.
"It's hard to focus when you're next to me." I said flirting with her.
"Oh c'mon I'm not that attractive." She said blushing.
"I was talking about how annoying you are." I was lying of course.
"Oh wow I really thought you meant that sweet compliment." She said fake pouting. I dipped my small brush in some paint and lightly marked her nose.
"Jenna!" She said whining. I started giggling and we both kept painting marks on each other.
"That's what you get for being so cute." I said painting a quick heart on her arm. Emma marked me on my neck a little as I felt the cold paint hit my skin.

We had finished painting our animals...and each other. We cleaned up the table and returned the paint bottles. Emma started wiping off the paint marks on me with her thumb. She reached my neck, our faces were close to each other. I could feel her hot breath on my neck as she focused on rubbing the paint off. I pushed her away a little to look at her by the waist.
"Emma it's okay. I'll take it off later." I said smiling.
"I kinda like the heart you drew on me." She said blushing. We exited the shop and got in my car.
"I liked spending my afternoon with you Jenna." Emma said sweetly.
"Me too, except for the part where you didn't let me pay." I said jokingly. She laughed and put her hand on top of mine.
"Can you drop me off at my house please?" She said, looking into me deeply.
"Why wouldn't I?" I said softly. Emma is my favorite feeling. And I realize why it would never work with anyone else but her.
