I wake my squad a few hours before sunset and order them to get ready. Those not going on the expedition have been packing supplies and readying the wagons. Everyone gets their horses ready. We gather outside and start the short journey to the gate in the Karanese District.
It's the same place they left through last time. I've been reading the manga and that's what they called it. (And is his name really Irvin?)
We wait in front of the gate as Commander Erwin announces the expedition. I've been on a lot of other expeditions, and this one is hardly any different. This one is just mainly at night, while the others were during the day. The last one included titan shifters and murder.
My squad follows me as I follow the commander. We ride beneath the wall and through the gate. This is probably the first time most of the new recruits have gone outside Wall Rose. This is also probably the first time they'll see a titan. It may be their last time too.
