Author's POV:
Sasha looked at Janaki and asked, "Ma'am, we know that your hospital faced a lot of allegations a few years ago, and that was because of your son. How did you feel at that time?"
As soon as she listened to that question, Janaki remembered those days of life that she never wished to happen.
"It's definitely not because of Arjun," said Anitha before Janaki could say something. She took a deep breath and said, "We can't hold him responsible for what happened in the past because he himself was a victim of a play. Those who are responsible for whatever happened in the past have paid for their deeds and are punished. Moreover, we have never held him responsible for all those allegations. Everyone knows what happened on that day and after that day. We all have a habit of judging a book by its cover. We know nothing about that person; we don't know what he or she has gone through; we don't know the entire story, yet we make our own assumptions based on what we have heard and start to judge them without knowing what's really going on. Am I right, or am I right?"
Sasha shut her mouth and gave her an awkward smile. Janaki looked at Anitha gratefully, who just blinked her eyes in assurance and held her hand.
She then looked at Sasha and said, "The journey of us and our chain of hospitals till now is definitely a roller-coaster ride. We have faced some allegations in the past too, but the things that happened eight years ago weren't things that we never dreamt to happen, even in our dreams, and they left us devastated. When I saw that news scrolling down in the headlines, I felt like my world crumbled into pieces. But as we say, truth will always find its way, no matter how hard anyone tries to hide it. Those who are responsible for all that chaos have been punished by law. In all these, I have to say something, i.e., I'll be forever thankful for my entire staff and also for our patients who trusted us, didn't give up on us, and were with us during that difficult phase. Also, I'll always be thankful for my entire village because they stood with us and gave us moral support when the entire world was against us. I will never forget those awful days in my life. I agree that whatever happened had a connection with my son, but I can't blame him for those things that happened at that time. He never had the slightest idea of what was happening behind his back, nor did we. He has loved the wrong person in the past and has paid a huge price for that. He trusted the wrong person as his friend, who backstabbed him. We know the pain we went through during that time."
Sasha gave her a small smile and said, "Have you ever asked your children to become doctors?"
"No! I wanted to become a doctor, and I had worked for it. So, I don't have the right to stop them from pursuing the careers they wanted," said Janaki.
"Have you ever felt jealous that Arjun sir chose the same profession as your husband's?" asked Sasha.
Janaki laughed and said, "No! Why would I? It's a silly question. In fact, they have to be jealous, as I have two members on my team. My son-in-law is a doctor, and my daughter-in-law is also a doctor."
