Canyon of the Crescent Moon

Middle East

1960

The throbbing of a helicopter's engine echoed through the ancient canyon's ruins. Professor Henry Jones Senior mumbled to himself, exiting the Treasury, hanging onto his umbrella. "What in blazes -"

"Hello, Henry," Assassin and bounty hunter Inanna Sargon lept elegantly from the helicopter. Behind her was Israeli Sergeant Zev Mazar, Emily's childhood best friend.

"My - this is a special delivery!" Henry Jones Senior stepped forward, kissing Inanna Sargon's hand. "Marion did mention a package - but I didn't expect it so soon!"

"Fond memories may have expedited this delivery," Inanna smiled. "You still owe me dinner from when we raided Area 51 to get the Ark of the Covenant back from the US government."

"Stormed, Miss Sargon. That was not a raid. A raid is to steal something - a storm in battle terms is to take back something that is already yours."

Zev lowered the box with a thud. "That's what Uncle Indy said - 'Its not stealing if it belongs to you.'"

There was an angry groaning growl from inside the box.

"Oh. Heavens! Its alive!" Henry poked the box with his umbrella. "How long must we keep this monster?"

Inanna pried off the lid with a crowbar.

Mac's son, Jake Manifold sat up and stared. "What? Where am I?" His eyes lit on Henry Jones Senior and Inanna Sargon. "Dr. Jones...? Inanna Sargon? Assassin lady?!? Dr. Jones... Did Indy... I mean, the other Dr. Jones....? I swear, I swear to both of you - I didn't dump Emily Jones! I mean... the third Dr. Jones! The girl Dr. Jones! We didn't break up! We didn't even DO anything! I tried to get her home... I picked her up, and she - she threw - actually flipped me over her shoulder into a sewer and left to rescue her sister!"

Zev paused. "Strange distinction - being the spy who got flipped off by Emily Jones."

Jake turned horror across his face, the expression akin to his father facing Marion's shotgun. "That's not funny!"

Inanna turned to Henry. "I think its hilarious - so does the rest of the international intelligence community."

Henry stared at the dark-haired disheveled young man in his mid-twenties, unamused. "I told Emily she shouldn't date anything below the rank of double-o-seven."
