Unseen Realm
The apkallu's six fingered claw struck Emily across her side, ripping the dress. She was thrown across the room. Blood oozed down Emily's ribs.
She hissed air through her teeth, not daring to let go of the swords, as she slowly got up from the stone floor. "You kill me, you won't get the seventh sword of Diya."
"I don't have to kill you to take what I want," it snarled. "That's the beauty of women. They need to remain alive in order to give birth."
Emily pressed her arm against her bloody side. "Then you've just made a terrible mistake."
"Why?"
"I'm not Eve. She didn't have the wisdom to tell the supernatural serpent no. I do."
"Is that all?" It circled. "'No' doesn't always work. You're not that powerful."
"Neither are you." Emily held out the swords.
