The sound of waves lapping against the shoreline is calming.

The tide comes in and then moves back out, under control of the moon.

The sand is grainy, between my toes.

Crisp and warm, all at the same time.

The air is heavy, but sweet.

It's Monday, August 22.

Patrick and I arrived to Hawaii, earlier this afternoon, for our honeymoon.

Growing up, I had only gone to Hawaii twice, and I haven't been back in a while.

But it sure as hell feels good to be back in paradise.

Especially, with my husband.

Patrick.

Patrick and I got married, just two days ago.

The wedding as well as the reception are both blurry in my mind.

I remember some things.

I remember the way I felt as I was getting ready for the wedding, because who could forget when you literally feel like throwing up due to nervousness?

I remember the way the anticipation was killing me as I waited to walk down the aisle.

But most vividly, I remember the way my nerves suddenly settled when I saw Patrick standing at the end of the aisle.

It was like I didn't care what anyone else thought.

I just knew everything was going to be okay.

I knew when everything gets too much, I will always still have him.

I remember the way he slipped the ring onto my finger.

Of course, I remember the kiss.

I remember Erica and Jonathan's toasts, that were both beautifully written.

I remember dancing with Patrick, under a sky of stars.

I remember the way his hands felt in mine, and the way I couldn't stop smiling up at him.

Lots of tears were shed that night.

Tears of pure joy.

Two days later, and I'm on a different side of the country, separated by a vast, beautiful ocean.

Kona, Hawaii.

It's about 10:30 in the evening.

Patrick and I hung out for most of the afternoon, and then we went out for dinner.

We went to a seafood place, where the fish was fresh, and delicious at that.

We then came back to the beach-house we rented for the week.

The house, is stunning.

It's fairly large, with white tiles lining the floors.

It has two levels, offering gorgeous views.

It has a private pool, that is huge and luxurious.

It backs onto a private beach, that no one else has access to.

The beach is beautiful, with white fine sand, and the water is a brilliant shade of blue.

It's a sandy beach, so there are hardly any rocks in the water.

The waves are small, and calm.

It is a taste of heaven.

There is no other way to describe it.
