Tell Him

Link POV

Once Sarah fell asleep I gently removed her head from my shoulder without waking her up. I picked her up bridal style and moved her so that she was laying down and her head was on a pillow. I then covered her with a blanket and kissed her forehead. I then wrote a note letting her know that she fell asleep and I left so she wouldn't get worried when she woke up. I left the note on the nightstand next to her. I didn't want to leave her but I had to go tell Rhett that she was going to be okay. On my way out I cleaned up the mess that Brandon caused. He's gonna pay for this one day. I'll make sure of it.

When I got back to Rhett's house I told him what happened.

"It's a good thing you went over to go check on her man. Nice job!"

"Thanks Rhett. That means a lot."

"I still know you haven't told her yet."

"How do you know that?"

"You still have a worried look on your face. You should be happy now. Your girl is free of that jerk-of-a-boyfriend Brandon."

"I am but I'm worried about her. She was so upset about the breakup."

"Link! She'll get over it eventually. There's no need to worry. She's a strong, independent woman. It may take time but she'll be fine in the end."

"You think so?"

"I know so."

I lift my head and Link's eyes are closed. We were on my couch curled up together watching a movie. I figured it was a good idea since he was going to be hanging out with me for a while. He was so sweet to stay after what happened today. I'll never forget this. The movie finished and Link fell asleep halfway through it like he usually does. I give him a kiss on the cheek and his eyes open. He takes his glasses off, rubs his eyes and then places the glasses back on his nose. He looks at me and then looks at the TV.

He groans annoyed at himself and asks me "did I fall asleep AGAIN?"

I just laugh "yes Link. You did."

"Dang it!"

I continue to laugh.

"What's so funny?"

"You. You're cute when you get mad at yourself" I say while still laughing.

He realizes how ridiculous he was being and started to laugh with me.

"I love you, Link" I say while I'm still laughing.

"I love you too Sarah." He looks at me with his ocean blue eyes and cautiously leans in. Almost like he's afraid of what'll happen. He pauses. His nose was inches from mine. He looks into my eyes almost like he's asking permission. My heart is racing so fast. I was afraid it would burst out of my chest. I'm surprised he didn't say anything about it. I was sure he could hear it. A few seconds pass and he relaxes. He places his hand on my cheek, closes his eyes as I close mine, leans in the last few inches and kisses me.

The corners of my mouth slowly curl into a smile. "I love you, Link" I say after a stretch and yawn.

I open my eyes. Shit! I hope he didn't hear that.

I sit up in bed and look around for him but I don't see him. I sigh in relief. All I see is a note on my nightstand. It was from Link. He is such a good friend.
