MORE OF A FILL IN
Much packing and much driving was done until we made it on the plane. Peter managed to get us seats where we sat next to each other. As I was ready to sit in the middle, Peter stopped me.
"What's wrong?" I asked him. He seemed a bit jittery and jumpy, which was how he was acting earlier but had not a paid any attention to it.
"Uh....I-well, it's a funny story actually." He frowned and rubbed his hands together. "Here it goes. But you have to promise not to make fun of me." He begged. I nodded amd promised. "I-I still have a fear of flying." He quickly blurted.
"Oh, well.....did you want to sit in the middle?" I question. He shoulders fell in relief that I hadn't made fun of him and replied with a smile. I took one step to my right and sat down. I used to be afraid of flying. But I overcame that fear. Hopefully Peter can too. After he set down his carry-on below his seat, he let out a big sigh.
"It'll be okay." I assured. "As long as I'm here, we'll be fine." I said without much thought. He doesn't know your the streak you idot! I thought to myself. But it seemed Peter took it a different way and closed in eyes while nodding. He began taking deep breaths and tried calming himself down.
So I closed the window on my right, grabbed my phone, grabbed my earbuds, and began playing Mi Gente by J. Balvin. I would just hide my things when the people that worked on the plane passed by. A sudden shaking and moving of the plane shook me. That told me we were taking off. So I closed my eyes and let myself rest.
Then something slipped through my hand. A cold, shaky, hand. I opened one eye and saw Peter terrified, as his eyes opened. So I gave him a squeeze in return and he turned to me. I took off my earbuds and rested my head on his shoulder. His heart was pumping louding and fast. But after a couple of seconds, it slowed and his deep breaths became normal. I felt myself smile, feeling accomplished I had stopped his nearly panic attack. His right hand left mine and wrapped around my shoulder, bringing me closer and his left hand lifted up to hold mine. Peter began stroking my hand and I was too comfortable to move.
Me and Barry aren't boyfriend and girlfriend, so this isn't cheating. Right? Then why does this feel wrong! Me and Barry haven't even gone on a date! How can something wrong, feel right? Later, Peter placed his head on top of mine and his breathing slowed down even more, as if he was sleeping. I opened my eyes for a split second and saw he was fast asleep.
Without moving my head nor left hand, I grabbed my earbuds and phone and felt asleep with music coursing through my ears.

"My phone's dead." I sighed as we got off the plane and into a taxi.
"You can use mine, if you need it." Peter offered.
My mind flashed back to that weird time I called Peter and his tone was rude and rushed. He wouldn't be stupid enough to leave private information on his phone, would he? Oh my god, I didn't just seriously think about that did I? Just because I haven't hung out with him in forever means I can't automatically think he has stayed the same. People change. In this case, probably Peter.
"No thank you." I politely declined. "I can't believe I-I mean we remained asleep that whole plane ride." I said. Peter laughed lightly.
"You say that like it's a bad thing." He said. I laughed lightly with him and soon the laughter died down. "I never thanked you by the way."
"For what?" I asked in confusion.
"For saving me from a panic attack. Wasn't the first time you did so."
