I lay down in my bunker listening to the sounds of four other women in my barracks sleeping soundly.I never did get rid of those flowers, despite me holding strong hatred for both of my parents. The two little items were very precious to me.
I stood up from the bed, slightly stretching my bones as I yawn.
Each bunker had a tiny dresser next to the bed with a candlelight. Mines was the only one lit since I was the only one awake. I walk towards the dresser and open up the drawer, revealing the rose and the camellia.
Keep that on, forever and always, in remembrance of me, okay?
It was so, so long ago, that day, but my mother's words rang through my ears like a symphony. She always had the most soothing voice.
I smile down at it gently and pick it up, lifting it towards my face and hooking it into my [h/c] hair.
Forever and always,mama...
I quickly exit my bunker to begin my morning routine of waiting for Levi in the Mess Hall, and as expected, he showed.
He would usually only come to acquire tea, but would stay to socialize with me before everyone woke up.
"Your rose." He quickly took notice of the item in my hair as he sat down crossing his legs. He wore a white button down shirt and black dress pants.
"A-ah, yeah. I was feeling pretty today, so I thought I would've added an accessory" I subtly blush hoping he doesn't notice. "H-Heichou..can I ask you something?" I cup my hands together and look into his eyes.
"Hm?"
"Do you remember me?"
He let out a disgruntled sigh and set his tea cup down on the wooded table. "What the hell does that mean?"
So he doesn't remember back when we children..
"Back in the Underground that one day you almost killed a man. A young girl stopped you with a rose in her hair."
Levi's eyes widen in surprise as he put the pieces together. "You were that girl? Wow, you had balls back then. What the hell happened?"
I laugh and shrug. "You fought my best friend."
"That rude piece of shit. I remember him. Little 'Sammy' right? I swear, if someone hadn't stopped me, I would've killed him that day. I was only holding back because I knew you two were close." Levi gave a scoff at the thought of Samuel and sipped his tea.
"Why did you even care whether we were close or not?" I ask, slightly cocking my head in confusion.
Levi frowns and stares deeply into my eyes. He sets the tea down without breaking stare and grip onto my wrists.
I blush at him touching me and face down at the ground in embarrassment.
"Look at me." He orders
I force myself to look him in his eyes. He was so handsome..seemingly unaware of how attractive he was.
"Back in the Underground, I saw you playing with the other girls. I saw your mother and I knew how much she resented me, but that was only because I didn't have a good impression on her. She thought I was another thug child, which I was, but at the same time, wasn't." He paused as he thought about our past, and continued on. "You remember me telling you about Kenny, aye?"
I nod.
"He raised me to be this brutal, war machine. I was never raised social-wise. He taught me how to fight, how to steal, and left me on my own. I had to mature very quickly."
