"Kevin are you still going to help me with my psychology homework," I asked him as he came out into the living room.

"Yeah," he said as he plopped down beside me.

I threw my legs onto his lap. "Baby what took you so long? You were in your room for like fifteen minutes."

"I had to make an important call," he replied. "Watchu need help with?"

After I explained to him what I was going over, we spent an hour thoroughly going through everything until I was convinced that I'd do fine on my psych exam.

When I rejoined Kevin on the couch after putting my notes away, he grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him. He planted kisses on my neck and nibbled on my earlobe. Though I loved his affection, it was something in the way he touched me that told me something else was going on. I squirmed away from him.

"Kev," I said as I gently pushed him away, "what's on your mind?"

He removed his lips from my neck and pecked my lips. "Whatchu talkin' 'bout babe? You on my mind right now," he grinned. His hands fondled over my clothes just before tracing a trail under my shirt.

"Kev what's going on," I asked trying not to be mesmerized by each kiss. I placed my hand on his chest and forced myself to pull away from him. "Babe I'm serious. What's up?"

Kevin looked at me. "Nothing's going on Lys. I'm good."

My eyebrows raised in his direction. "You sure?"

He grinned, "Yeah baby. I'm sure," and within seconds leaned back in to kiss me. I stopped Kevin after a few seconds.

"Nope," I said with my hand on his chest, "I'm not buying it. Somethings not right. Tell me what's wrong."

Kevin exhaled. "Babe Nothing's wrong," he said slowly.

I took a deep breath. "You know what," I said calmly, "I'm sorry. When you're ready to tell me what's going on, I'll be ready to listen. Okay?" I stood from the couch and grabbed my belongings.

Kevin looked up at me. "Lys where you going?"

"I'm going back to campus. You clearly have a lot on your mind that you need to filter through. So I'm going to give you your space to do that." I lifted his chin closer to my face and gave him a kiss before heading to the door. "I love you. Call me later."
...
"Hellooo. Earth to Alyssa. You okay? You seem like your mind is on another planet right now. What's up Lys?"

I looked over at Janelle and sighed. "Kevin."

"Uh oh? Trouble in paradise?"

I laughed. "I can't tell. I was at his place the other day so he could help me study for my psych exam and once we finished he's all on me and everything, but I could just tell that something was off with him. So I asked him what was on his mind and he kept saying that he was good, but you know I'm good at discerning stuff like that. So I told him that I'd give him some time to himself so he could sort through everything. Then I told him him to call me later. Janelle. It's been three days and he has not called. I'm really trying not to harass him which is the only reason why I haven't reached out to him."

Janelle thought for a moment. "I think you should go over to his house and have a face to face conversation with him. He really misses you."

I turned my head quickly in her direction. "How you know aunt Jo? He got in contact with you?"

Janelle laughed. "If anybody in here is aunt Jo it's you, but no, I saw him the other day and he looked like he lost his best friend or something."
