Alison's POV.

The uncomfortable tension that hung in the air whenever Luke and I interacted, was clearly noticed by a very smug Blake. To Blake's absolute delight, Luke and I avoided each other as much possible but however there were times when he would curtly inform me that I had incoming order to hand over. I would occasionally catch him smirking at Luke, his arms crossed and a smirk curling at his lips.

"He's a hottie."Elizabeth murmured appreciatively eyeing up Luke, but then added hastily after spotting my disgruntled expression,"Too bad he's a jerk."

I stayed silent, pursing my lips and continued cleaning the table Blake had assessed me to. Elizabeth too was waitress however she found cleaning up a hassle and would persuade me into doing her share of work. I didn't mind too much a she would gossip rapidly while I listened, occasionally nodding or shouting in disagreement.

"So any plans this weekend?"she asked, swinging her legs back and forth as she sat on the large maghony table.

I shrugged, tossing the dishcloth to side and pulling myself up onto the table to join her,"Nothing much. Sleep mostly."

She frowned.

"Want to hit the mall tomorrow, then? At about 11?"she offered, an excited grin growing on her lips simply at the thought.

I bit my lip. I wouldn't mind spending quality time with my new found friend, however I was planing the weekend to clean the house up. Clover's addition to the mess wasn't exactly helping.

"I don't know."I said slowly,"Clover's messed up the living room last night after trying to go after a bird who was outside - behind the slide door may I add - and I didn't have time to clean it all up."

Her eyebrows furrowed, and she tilted her head,"Clover?"

Right. I hadn't told her that I had a pet.

"Just my dog."

She gaped at me for a moment before breaking out in a bundle of delighted squeals. Many staff nearby turned to glare at her, to which she seemed to not notice, now giggling in my ear.

"Oh my god, oh my god. You have a dog!"she screeched,"How come you didn't tell me!"

I shrugged, laughing at her enraged expression,"Slipped my mind."

She opened her mouth, I presumed to verbally bash me for saying such thing when the sound of angry footsteps met my ears. Elizabeth quickly closed her mouth, glaring at the figure behind me. I whipped around, silently dreading the revelation of whoever was there. I had sinking feeling that I already knew who it was.

"You."he snarled, pointing indignantly at Elizabeth.

She rolled her eyes, putting her weight on one foot and began to gaze at her nails, obviously expressing her absolute boredom with the conversation,"Me."

"I gave you a chance and here you are making a racket! My God, Elizabeth I was being nice and you have to fuck that up too."

Several horrified gasps carried through the staff.

I shifted uncomfortably, looking down at my feet to avoid the stares of many around us. She was just squealing, it wasn't too bad of an action, even it were ear shattering. However there wasn't anything wrong i that.

The conversation was purely between the two. The had zoned out the others, hate clear as day on each of their features.

Chance? What chance had Blake given to Elizabeth? What had she done in the past to make him hate her this much?

"Oh please."she scoffed, flipping a strand of her brown hair behind her shoulder and placing both hands on her hips,"You and I both know that you couldn't cancel me out, it would be simply inhuman."

A flicker of unease rung in Blake's posture and he took a wavering step back.

"I could fire you anytime."he said hotly.

She raised an eyebrow,"Oh really?"

"Yes."

"Alright."Elizabeth said, waving a careless hand in the air,"Do it then. Right now. Right here. Right in front of your dear wifey."

Blake's eyes suddenly swivelled towards me, and I nearly gasped at the intensity the swam in the depths of his eyes.
I shivered lightly at the pleasant tingle that ran down my spine as he continued to stare openly at me.

I hated it. I hated that somehow he still had some sort of effect on me. Even after years.

"Beth, you know I can't."

Both of their eyes widened at the involuntary use of the nickname. A sense of irritation settled in my belly as they stared at each other, eyes wide an mouth open.

He stammered, a tint of red staining his cheeks,"I mean E-Elizabeth."

"Good."she snapped, obviously already recovered from his minor slip back,"Because I would hate to hear that come out of your mouth again. Never call me that."

Were the once lovers? The thought was enough to have me bristling in anger. Even if it had been years and Blake had treated me like gum on his shoes, my feelings, for some strange reason, still stood, stubbornly strong. And I would do anything to eliminate that, but I couldn't. It was simply a hindrance that I would have to deal with for the time being.

He growled lowly, not appreciating the disrespect that oozed from Elizabeth's words. The two continued to glare at each other, Blake with his fists clenched at his sides and Elizabeth with her arms crossed against her chest. They seemed to believe that if they stared at one another long enough with the obvious look of despise on their expression, the other would drop dead.

Sensing Blake's near explosion of outage, I clasped my hand firmly around Elizabeth's elbow and began to tug her away from the scene.

"We'll be leaving."I said cooly, avoiding Blake's stare.

He didn't reply, his eyes still trained on Elizabeth, his lips set in a firm line.
