You loved Baekhyun. There was just something about him that you just couldn't get enough of. Maybe it was his charm, the way he easily made you feel comfortable, needed, and warm on the inside. Maybe it was his soothing voice that always managed to lull you to sleep on your worst nights. Maybe it was his way of showing his absolute need for you, the way he would constantly contact you and make sure that you knew he felt some sort of attachment to you.

You met Baekhyun through your friend Chanyeol. It started out slow, with the two of you simply talking and learning each other's interests. The night you met him was when you had finally broken it off with your ex and was in a dire need of alcohol, it was just your luck that Chanyeol insisted on taking you out for the night with his friends. You were wasted. Baekhyun was the one to bring you home and tuck you into bed so you wouldn't end up in some strangers apartment. He was sweet and kind. Chanyeol messaged you the day after, claiming that he and his friends were going for dinner and wanted you to tag along. You sat beside Baekhyun that night and chatted throughout the entire dinner, forgetting everyone else.

Simple hangouts lead to late night chats on the phone, which eventually lead to planned dates. Baekhyun was a total gentlemen. He opened doors for you, allowed you to go in first before him, drove you home after nights, and he even brought you to work. Those simple gestures seemed to capture your heart. He was a total change from your ex. Baekhyun would randomly show up outside your apartment some nights, insisting the two of you go out on a night walk or even for a simple drive. Every second you spent with him lead to something bigger.

You'd only been dating for a month until Baekhyun finally asked for you to be his girlfriend. Every moment after that only helped increase your feelings for him. You grew an attachment, a fondness towards the man who managed to steal your heart. He wasn't some random fling that you met the night after breaking up with your ex. He was a man who had managed to catch your breaking heart and patch it up, staking his claim.

You were undeniably head over heels for Baekhyun. Imagine the amount of devastation that you felt when he admitted to being in a relationship publicly to his fans. You were shocked. Not because he hadn't asked if it were alright with you to announce your relationship, but because the fans seemed to accept his love to a girl that they never knew existed. It was a good thing Baekhyun was the one to announce the relationship and not some stalker website that kept tabs on every single idol. The members of EXO were especially shocked by the news, they had no clue of how close the two of you had grown over the course of three months.

Your family claimed you moved on too fast, that you never gave your ex a chance to explain himself that night you caught him cheating. Your ex was a respected man. A CEO of a highly respectable firm. Your mother was especially shocked when you admitted that you were seeing someone else only a few weeks after the breakup. But to you, things never felt rushed. Baekhyun had his way of helping you feel comfortable with everything. Your mother was angered when she found out that you were dating an idol, she claimed Baekhyun was not the "right type" for you. It took some getting use to before she finally became accepting towards Baekhyun. Her main reason of being against the relationship in the first place was due to her fears of Baekhyun dumping you and leaving you alone.

You've been dating Baekhyun for a year now. It's surprising how fast a year could go by after spending it with the one you loved. You grew acustom to his schedule as a Kpop idol, you understood his struggles and gave him space when he needed it. You were there for him in his times of need, comforting him and helping him to the best of your abilities. In return Baekhyun showed his love to you by spoiling you with gifts every time he returned from a tour. He showed his love to you by cuddling late at nights on the sofa while watching some rerun of a Kdrama playing on the TV. He showed his love to you by trying his best to prepare a warm meal for you when you returned from work, key word: tried. You loved him. He loved you. What more could you possibly ask for?

"I want a cat."

Baekhyun glances up from his phone, raising an eyebrow. "A cat?"

"You heard me." You respond sassily while dropping down onto the couch.

"Cat's require love and attention, which is currently reserved only for me." Baekhyun retorts with the same amount of sass.

You snort and rest against the man, your head resting on his shoulder as you watched him scroll through his Instagram feed. "But cat's are cute."

"So am I."

It grows silent, your eyes narrowing as you turn to face Baekhyun. You admired his side profile for a few seconds before returning to your main topic of conversation. "I'm getting a cat."

"Why a cat? Why not a dog?" Baekhyun asks, finally locking his phone and dropping it onto the coffee table. He turns to face you fully.

"Because I want a cat, not a dog." You answer simply.

"Well what if I wanted a dog? And I gave that dog my full love and attention," Baekhyun responds with a raised eyebrow.

"Then I would love that dog just as much as I love you." You coo, nudging his foot with yours.

Baekhyun scoffs. "No pets."

"What? Why?" You whine.

"Because we're rarely home," he sighs.

It finally strikes you at how right he is. Baekhyun's schedule was normally booked to the brim. If he were not touring, he was normally practicing for an upcoming comeback or pre-recording other things. You were at work for long hours of the day as a fashion designer.

You sigh. "You're right."

Baekhyun frowns and grabs your hand, tugging you closer to him. He wraps his arms around you, forcing you to cuddle against him. "I'm sorry that you can't have a pet."

"I'm sorry that I even bothered asking." Your voice is muffled as you're practically pressed against his chest.

Baekhyun rubs his hand up and down your back. "Why did you want a cat?" He asks.

"To keep me company." You answer honestly.

It was true. Sometimes it was too quiet in your shared apartment with Baekhyun gone, especially while he was on tour. Having a pet sounded nice at first until you realized just how foolish it sounded. Pets required a lot of work, which you probably weren't exactly ready for. You were still young and doing your best at work, giving it your full time and devotion.

"I know it's hard for you, being home alone practically all the time.. but we'll work through it. I love you so much Y/N." He whispers, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.

"I love you too." You respond, finally pulling away to face him fully.

His eyes are full of nothing but love and passion. The soft glow from the lamp in the corner of the room causes him to look more softer and inviting. You lean in and press your lips to Baekhyun's softly. He responds to the kiss almost immediately, a smile tugging at his lips as he returns the kiss.

The two of you spend the night cuddling on the couch, watching yet another Kdrama.
