Sympathy was a common thing for you. The loss of your mother was a hard thing for a child to suffer through, but the pity in everyone's eyes as they looked at you was a lot more insufferable for you. Growing up as a young girl without a mother was hard enough, but growing up with a father who drowned himself in his work was worse. You had no one to take care of you besides yourself. You knew your father loved you, but the least he could have done was try and make it to the biggest events in your life or help you through your puberty. The only good thing he was for was scaring off your past boyfriends. Which is maybe why TEN was close to passing out at the mention of your father wanting to meet him for the first time.
"It's going to be fine," you reassure him.
"Fine? Are you not aware of who your father is?" He asks.
You roll your eyes at his words, crossing your arms across your chest as you lean against the counter in the kitchen. "My father is not some devil who will kill you the moment you enter his home," you sigh.
"But he will kill me for dating his daughter," TEN mumbles while slinking down in the chair. "You told me of your past boyfriends and how harsh he was with them. How are you not sure he won't kick me out the moment I step foot on his property?"
"Because I'll be by your side every moment of the dinner, and besides, we won't be meeting at his house. He never cooks. So we'll go out to eat at his favorite restaraunt." You explain slowly, walking behind the boy who seemed too frightened to even notice when your arms wrapped around his neck in a form of a back hug.
TEN sighs and leans back, resting a hand against your arm. "What if he decides I'm not good enough for you?"
"Then I'll continue dating you because I know what kind of person you are, he doesn't." You reply simply.
"And what if he bans you from seeing me?" TEN asks.
You sigh and press a kiss to the side of his head in a comforting way. "There's no chance of that happening any time soon, you hear me? We've been dating for a year now, my father's heard about you and the only reason he wants to meet you is to be sure that we're taking things slowly."
"Taking things slowly?" TEN turns to face you this time.
You nod. "He thinks that it's too early for the both of us to move in with one another, especially with your profession. And he's curious to when we'll marry. Before any of that happens he wants to meet you."
"We haven't moved in with each other yet," TEN says slowly.
"He knows about the plans," you say while unwrapping your arms from around him.
TEN quietly studies you as you go to pour yourself some iced tea. "You told your father about our plans?" He asks.
You nod and lean against the counter once again. "Relax, all he wants is to meet the boy that his daughter is dating."
"He knows that I'm an idol?" TEN asks.
"Even if he didn't find out from me, he would have found out eventually from all the articles." You sigh while running a hand through your hair.
Although it was hard enough having to deal with your father, you also had to come clean with your relationship with TEN publicly. TEN spoke with the company he was signed to and they agreed that it was time to confirm the suspicions of TEN's dating life. Of course your name was never mentioned, but there were some solid hints to who the girl was he was dating. It didn't take much time for netziens and the fans of NCT to put two and two together. Eventually your name was plastered all over the articles online.
