TONIS POV
"KT, before we leave for the airport we're going to see mommy at the hospital,"
"Ok be right down!" She yells from her room
She has only seen Cher once in the last few days so I know it's been har onb both of them. I'm at the hospital as often as possible so it's been ok.
"Do you like my outfit?" She says
She's wearing the new Serpent jacket that Cheryl got her since the cops took it foir evidence, it was red leather, then she was wearing ripped light blue jeans and a AC/DC tshirt.
"Love it now get your bags into the car,"
We pack the car and drive to the hospital.
"MOMMY!" KT says running into Cher's room
"Hey Kait," She says with a week smile
"Hey babe," I smile and give her a kiss
"Hi TT."
She has had no energy since chemo has started so we have a small conversation and then its time to go.
"Cher, we have to go but i'll call you as soon as we land in Montreal and keep you posted on the trial ok?" I say getting KT's jacket back on
"Sounds good, Love you," She says and
I lean down to kiss her and I give her a hug.
"Love you girlie, be good for your mom and uncles ok?" She says rustling Kait's hair
"Always Mommy love you too," She gives Cheryl a hug and we leave the room
We get to the car and go to meet the boys at the trailer park.
"Mommy, Cheryl's going to be ok right?" She asks from the backseat
"I hope so kiddo,"
We get to the trailer park and to my surprise the boys are already.
"Wow, on time for once," I say as Jug gets in the front seat
"First time for everything,"
We get to the airport, check in and go take our seats. Kit is sitting across from me and she looks like she is going to throwup.
"Kait whats wrong," I ask
"Nothing just nervous," She replies
"About Hiram," Sweetpea says
"No, well yes of course but i just never liked flying and I know a lot of people in Montreal so It's going to be weird being back," She replies shyly
"Ok, it's ok to be nervous, should I have bought meds for you in the plane," I ask
"Probably," She replies
"Wow, aren't you just mother of the year," Jughead mocks
"Screw off Jughead," I laugh "Are you going to be ok kait?"
"Ya i'll suck it up," She shrugs
"That's my neice," Fangs says giving her a high five and laughing
We talk for a few minutes and I say I have to go to the bathroom and Kait decides to come with me. I walk in to my stall and she walks into a stall a couple doors down, it's pretty busy so I don't pay any mind to the talking around me until I step out of my stall to go wash my hands. I see a lady talking to kait rather aggresivley and Kait giving her attitude. I walk over and grab Kait's shoulder.
"Can I help you?" I say hastily
"Well.. no I was just.." She started sputtering
"She asked me if my parents actually took care of me because she noticed we were gang members, and I told her to get lost," KT cuts in
"I assure you ma'am I take care of my daughter, I love my daughter, not that it's any of your buissness,"
"Well, why did you let her join a gang if you love her?" She asks defensivley
"If you must know her uncle is the leader and she's safer with us than if she wasn't where we are from and two unless you were too ignorant to notice, she's wearing red which is to honour her mother battling breast cancer, and 3 again not your buissness," I say raising my voice now since everyone else left the bathroom
"Why would she be safer IN a gang than outside a gang?"
"Because someone tried to murder me," KT says
"Kait not now, lets go," I say
"Oh, you're Kathryn Taylor and Toni Topaz, I'm Sandra Blaire a sports reporter from the Toronto Star doing an article on how a star athlete from the bureaus is now a prime witness in a murder case. I missed you at your home, would you care to comment,"
"uh.." I begin confused
"Sports reporter? Thats cool, who's your favourite Maple Leaf?" Kait asks
"Oh, uh Micheal Marner," She replies
"Ok, bye no way you're actually a sports broadcaster," Kait says grabbing my hand and walking out of the bathroom
"Kait what was that?" I ask confused
"Marner was traded 2 seasons ago and its Mitch Marner," She replies still walking towards the table
We sit down and Sweetpea makes a comment about how long the line must've been.
"It was actually pretty short we would have been back 15 minutes ago but someone cornered KT in the bathroom,"
"What who?" Fangs asks
"Some sports writer from Toronto,"
"She wasn't she couldn't even name one leaf," KT rebuttles
"True, anyways she asked kait if we actually took care of her because we were gang members,"
"Well, to be fair you didn't buy the medication," Jughead laughs
"Shove it Jug,"
<<Flight 5437 to Montreal now boarding>>
We get on the plane and Kait grips my hard so hard she draws blood and she grabs the other armrest harder.
"Kait you're ok" Jughead says
"I know, I'm just scared," She says
We get throiugh the slow, painful plane ride and land in Montreal, we grab our bags.
"One second," Kait says running to a garbage can
She throws up and then walks back.
"Thats better," She says getting a little more energy
"Are you sure you're ok?" I ask rubbing her back
"Fine," She smiles
"What do you guys want to do?" Fangs asks
"LETS GO TO TIM HORTONS!" Kait says pointing
"look at the line," Jughead whines
"Oh I forgot you're not from here," Kait laughs "there's another one around the corner, there is always another one around the corner,"
She walks confidently and we follow, she was right there was another Tim Hortons. We walk and she orders for us.
"Kait, you know I bet these are good but I'm hungry," Sweetpea says.
"Beside the Hotel we are staying at there is a great poutine place," She says grabbing the trays "Plus, I got Timbits,"
We eat and drink everything then we call an Uber. We get to the hotel and before we go out for dinner I call Cheryl.
"Hey Babe," She says sleepily
"Hey Cher, how are you doing?"
"Pretty good, for being on chemo anyways, How is Montreal?"
"It's amazing, Kait showed us Tim Hortons, and she's about to find us her favourite Poutine. It is really really pretty once you're out of the hospital we will come up here,"
"Sounds fun, hey Betty just got here Love you Babe talk to you tomorrow,"
"Ok, tell Betty I say hi, Love you too,"
"She says hi as well, bye," She hangs up
We walk down the hall to get the boys and begin following Kait down the street. She stutter steps as she walks really fast across the street, she walks 20 feet and crosses again.
"That was weird," Fangs whispers
"Ya... I'm not sure whats happening," I answer
We get to the poutine place and place our order.
"Kait why did we cross the street half way here?" Fangs asks
"Better scenery," She lies
"Kid, you're lying,"
"Nope,"
We brush it off and eat our poutine. We start heading out and walk back down the road, we get to the same point and kait turns to cross.
"Just stay on this side,"
"O-ok," She stutters
We keep walking until we reach some sort of alleyway. Kait stops and looks down the alley, tears start rolling down her cheeks and she wont move.
"Kait what's wrong?"
"On our way here I didn't know until we got about 10 meters away that we were so close to here," She starts
"Where even are we?" Sweetpea says confused
"This is where Kayden was shot, where they found me the next morning with a broken leg and a pool of blood, and a dead body,"
We all go silent
"Why the hell would they put us here of all places?" Jughead says
"One of the better places in this city believe it or not," Kait says
"Let's go kid," Fangs says picking her up
We get back to the hotel, and Kait goes to bed while I sit in the hall with the boys.
"Canada is really cool," Fangs says plopping down beside me "and look what I found!"
He holds up a bag of Ketchup chips.
"Are they good?" Jughead asks
"Ya really good,"
We all talk for a bit until it's time to go to bed.
