Shot

Cheryl's POV

"MAdisyn call 911, Alexandra keep your sisters away from the door," I yell
I run to Toni and see she's already unconscious and losing a lot of blood. The boys coming running up the driveway,
"We heard the gun shot," fangs says
"Go see Madi, shes on the phone with 911 but she doesnt know yet," I say "Sweetpea stay here,"
I look and see she has 2 bullet wounds, one on her abdomen and one through her chest. And shes barely breathing.
"What happened Cheryl?" Sweetpea asks
"I dont know," I stutter
I hear ambulance sirens in the distance and Toni;s eyes slowly open.
"Toni hold one babe, the ambulance is almost here,"
"Cheryl," She whispers in obvious pain "Remember i love you, tell the girlies to be good,"
"Toni Topaz stop that, dont talk like that," I say with tears rolling down my cheeks
Her arms reach up and pull me down for a kiss.
"Thank you Cheryl, for the best life I could have asked for," She says closing her eyes "I love you,"
"I love you too," I say "Come back to me Toni, dont you leave me,"
"I'm sorry my love," She says before falling unconscious again
The ambulance comes and loads her up and they quickly speed away.
"We have to get to the hospital, I'll get Alice to watch the girls," Sweetpea says
"Ok," I reply "let me grab my jacket and keys,"
I run in side put on my jacket and grab my keys.
"Mom whats happening?" Alex asks worried
"Why did I have to call 911? Where is Toni?"
"She was hurt girls, I have to go ok? Alice will bring you to the hospital in a bit but I have to go ok?" I say
they nod and I leave on Tonis bike.
"I'm here for ANTONIETTE TOPAZ," I say to the secretary
"Family?"
"Yes,"
"Relation?"
"Fiancée,"
"Ok here are some forms she is in surgery, the waiting room is down to the right, 189,"
"Thank you,"
I go to the waiting room and Fangs and Pea are already there.
"Cheryl!" The both yell hugging me
"What happened?" Sweetpea asks
"A man claiming to be Alex and Madi's biological father was at the door and Toni asked him to leave and he started getting aggresive so Toni pulled out her knife and then he shot her and left," I say crying
"Cheryl its ok, Toni will get through this," Fangs says
"What happens if she doesnt, fangs we have 6 kids," I say
"We will be right here Cheryl, we aren't going anywhere,"
I nod and start filling out the paperwork until I get to the last page- DNR.
"Cheryl what is it?" Sweetpea asks
"DNR," I reply "I dont want to sign it, but I dont want her to be in pain, y'know?"
All of us contemplate before Fangs speaks
"Don't sign it and if eventually you think shes in too much pain, go back to it," He says
I nod and skip the page. Fangs calls Alice to bring the kids and Jughead and Betty to come to the hospital.
"Boys when the girls get here can I have 5 minutes alone, just to explain?" I ask
"OF course Cheryl," They nod
"Mrs. Topaz," A nurse says
"Yes thats me,"
"The doctors sent me to prepare you, Ms. Topaz is not in good shape, prepare yourself and your children and family for a long road and if you need help talking about... possible outcomes with your children we have people on call,"
"Thank you," Is all I can say before breaking down
10 minutes later everyone rolls into the room and then leaves me alone with the girls. They can all tell whatever happened is not good, I'm literally a mess, mascara everywhere, blood on my white jeans and still on my hands.
"Mom what happened?" Alex asks
"Come here girls," I say "Sit down,"
The little girls sit on the ground and the older ones sit on either side of me
"The man at the door, got in a little argument with mom, and when he got angry he was very aggressive towards me and Toni took her blade out for protection and she told me to go back in the house, all I know that happened after that is that your mom got really hurt and shes going to be like that for a long time,"
"She was shot wasn't she?" Madi says
"Yes she was," I say with my hands in my hair "Little ones go see Aunt Betty ok?"
They nod and go outside.
"Girls I'm going to talk to you two about this first because I know youre both strong enough to handle this ok?"
They both nod as I stand to face them.
"The doctors aren't confident that your mom will fully recover, they don't know all the facts yet but in the condition she came in with- they told me to prepare you two and your sisters,"
"Fully recover? Like as in paralysis or something?" Alex asks
"No sweetie," I say "They think she might die,"
"Who was it?" Madi asks quietly
I stutter not knowing what to say
"WHO SHOT MOM?" She yells
"Right now the cops believe this was politically motivated," I lie "That the man was going for me,"
"You're lying," Alex says "Your our mother Cheryl, we know when you lie,"
"We'll talk about this later ok?" I say hoping they drop it
"Fine," Madi says
The boys come back in and sit down while I sit in the corner.
"Mommy, mommy!" Kait says running over to me
She hasn't recognized me in forever
"Mommy I remember everything," She says proud of herself
"What?" I ask
"I remember you, and Sweetpeas name and I remember the Hiram Archie shooting you and I remember pulling Toni into the lake! I remember Mom!"
"Sweetie thats amazing," I say hugging her
"And its not just a good day mommy?" She says hugging me back
"Why not?" I ask
"Because nothing is foggy, I remember even further back than Riverdale, I remember Canada,"
"Thats amazing kiddo, I love you,"
"I love you too," She says "And you said it a couple weeks ago! That I would be better soon,"
"Ya I did and see I never lie to you," I say kissing her head
She smiles and goes back to see Tayleigh
"Pea what do I do? Do i tell the older girls it was their father that shot Toni?" I ask
"I think you should, I mean they're asking right?"
"Ya I guess,"
"I think you should then, they're gunna find out eventually,"
I get up to go to the bathroom because I'm about to be sick.
I run in a throw up before sitting beside the toilet.
"Fuck this," I mutter standing back up to look in the mirror. I fix myself up and go back to the waiting area.
No one is here, they must've left to go get food. Madi left her phone so I pick it up to reveal her lock screen, a picture of her and Toni. It was like the 3rd day they lived in riverdale and she taught Toni how to use the filters on ChatSnap.
I start crying- remembering all the times Toni and I had together. look at pictures and drop my phone when this one comes up.
