The Comeback

ONE MONTH LATER

Toni's POV
Its been just over a month since Alex has gone missing and things have been rather hectic. We found out Jennifer Gibson was actually Geraldine Grundy who used to teach at Riverdale high and sleep with Archie Andrews, Alex called Madi once off an untraceable number and said they were near greendale, and Tayleigh still hasn't woken up.
"Toni, here's your tea," Cheryl says handing me a mug
"Thanks baby," I kiss her cheek as she sits down beside me.
It's two weeks until the election so Cheryl isn't here that much but she comes as often as possible.
"Remember we have that press conference in like 15 minutes," She says
I just nod and mumble focusing on the tubes and the machines near Tay's bed.
"Toni relax, you've been so tense. The doctors say she is more stable now and her brain is starting to heal," She says rubbing my back
"I know, i know," I say giving her a weak smile "Do you want to walk down to the conference now?"
"Sure,"
We walk down stairs and outside the hospital where the conference was being held.
"Ready babe?" I ask rubbing her arm
"Here goes nothing," She says following me to the podium
"Hello everyone and thank you for coming today." I start "A month ago our oldest daughter Alex was kidnapped and our other daughter was shot twice in the same attack. We urge anyone who has seen Alex or any of the suspects the police have named to come forward. Alex is a great kid, would do anything to protect her sisters and us. Alex and her twin sister Madi came from a bad past, but Alex was working to make the best of it and always tried to make the world a better place for everyone," I say
I look at Cheryl and rub her back.
"A lot of people are assuming I am using this for my political gain, but I am not. My original plan for mayor was to bring safety and security to Riverdale and this unfortunate event only furthers my want to make Riverdale a family safe town once again." She says with her voice cracking and tears forming "I always wanted to raise a family here so that's what I did but I never saw how dangerous it has become. I want to make sure young families moving to the area or young families who the parents have lived here their entire lives feel safe to stay in Riverdale,"
Then we open it up to questions quickly before a doctor comes and gets us.
"It's Tayleigh," is The only words her gets put before we are racing behind him inside
We raced to her room. SHe looked like she was seizing, and dying.
« Oh my god, » Cheryl says starting to cry
« No this is a good thing, it means she might be ready to wake up and doctor says attempting to remove the tube that has been breathing for her.
Hé gets it out and her eyes flutter open. She panicked at first before looking at Cheryl.
« Mommy, » She says with a cracky voice
« Tay, how are you feeling buddy? » Cher says putting her hand on Tays
« Tired, » she says
« Where's Alex? » She asks
I look at Cheryl, and she shrugs. I dont know wether to tell her or not.
« Tay, Lexi isn't here right now, »
« Mommy she told me she was going to get Fangs and FP because her hand was hurting and told me to wait, I should've waited. » She says starting to cry
« Why didnt you kiddo? »
« I thought she took a wrong turn, got lost like Taylor does some times, she was just walking really fast and I couldn't catch up to her, » She says « I'm sorry mommy, »
« Kiddo its ok, » Cheryl says
« Mommy I'm too tired, » She says with her eyes fluttering back and closing her eyes again
Eventually she stops breathing and they have to put her tube back into her mouth.
« Shes getting better Cher, »
« Toni, they had to put the tube back in, » She argues
« Atleast she woke up? » I say
« Tones shes tired, »
I just hug her as she cry's.
« I love you Cheryl, we'll get through this, »
« I know, I know, »
...
Another Month later
Cheryls POV
Tayleigh went in and out of conscious until waking up about 2 weeks ago and is now recovering at home. The election is tonight and we still haven't found Alex.
« Lexi? Let me get Mom, » I hear Madi yell from upstairs « I dont care Alex, »
Madi runs down the stairs with a phone in her hand.
« Mom, Lexi called me, » She says shoving a phone in my hand
« Lex? » I ask suspiciously
« Mommy? » She says
Although it does sound like Alex, I can tell shes tired and sounds sick.
« Mommy I want to come home, I'm scared, I'm sorry I'm sorry, »
« Baby do you know where you are? » I ask
« Just outside of- of, where ever we lived, » She says
« Ok, ok, outside of Riverdale? » I ask « Lexi where? »
Toni walks in just as i say Lex,
She looks confused.
« Lexi is on the phone, »
Tonis eyes light up and I put the phone on speaker
« Mommy I dont know, they knocked me out, I'm cold it dark, »
« Lex? » Toni says « Is there a way out? »
« Toni? They-they, what? » She says confused
« Lexi is there a way out, » I repeat
« No I tried to get out- they're always there, all of them except-« 
She stops talking when a loud noise that shocks me and Toni.
« BITCH THE RULE WAS MADI AND THATS IT, » We hear someone yell
« Moms I love you, » We hear before a big crash and then line goes dead
« That was Malachai," Toni says standing up
I sit there and Toni starts crying. I stand up and hug her
"She sounds so broken, so scared, Cheryl," She says through her sobs "I should've protected her."
"You protected her as much as you could TT,"
"I'm taking the Serpents and finding her, tonight,"
"Tones-"
"No you stay with the girls and I'll call if something happens."
"Ok whatever," i say shaking my head
"I'll go after the election dont worry babe," She says pressing her forehead to mine
"Ok,"
We call Kevin and he tries to track the number- and fails.
...
Its 5 minutes until the final count is in and I'm down by a bit.
"Hey baby whats wrong?" Toni asks me
"Tones I'm going to lose,"
"No your not,"
Riverdales election is on TV this year as they count votes so all of us are watching at Thistlehouse.
I zone out as Toni rubs my back and then they say they have the final results. I look at the TV and barely hear the words. 
I stand and jump and Toni hugs me
"Congrats Babygirl," She says
She puts her hands on my waist and pulls me into a long kiss.
The boys chant Red as we pull away.
"I won," I say shaking my head
"You won babe,"
We celebrate for a bit and Toni looks at me.
"Babe, I'm going to find Lexi," She says grabbing her jacket
"You go T. Rules though-" I start
"Ew no rules," Sweetpea says coming behind Toni
"Rule one, you take no bullets or blades- Sweetpea takes them all," I say looking at Pea
"Rude," Sweetpea says
"Fine Cheryl, no bullets or blades I promise," She laughs
I kiss her and she smiles into the kiss.
"I love seeing you happy again babes," I say
She just smiles and looks at her feet.
"You're cute T," I say kissing her cheek "I love you,"
"Love you too Cheryl,"
She leaves and I watch her go.
