Cheryl's POV
the hospital is boring. I hate it. They say I might be able to leave earlier than expected, even next week! I wait and wait for Toni to come back from errands before she picks the kids up from school.
"Hey babe," Toni says walking in with madi and Alex
"Um hi," I say confused
"So don't be mad," she says
"What the fuck did you two do?" I ask looking at the twins
"Uh mom said we could," madi says
"Shut up," Toni hisses
"What happened?" I ask
Madi and Alex roll up their right sleeves and reveal a fresh tattoo. It says mom in a breast cancer awareness ribbon
"I love it," I say looking at them "but Mrs. Topaz we will be discussing this later,"
"But look at mine!" She says raising her shirt and showing her rib cage
Her battle is my battle, CT with a ribbon and a heart
"You're cute," I laugh
She kisses me
"I'm hungry," madi says
"So am I," Alex says
"You have money, run along," Toni says
They run away and Toni pulls me in for another kiss.
"You like it though?" She asks raising her shirt again
"I love it actually," I say tracing it
"Good," She says
She sits in a chair and we watch tv.
"I hate, hate, hate the hospital," I say
"I know babe I know," she says "they're telling me you're doing good though,"
"I am, I always am," I say "I'm amazing,"
"You're sensational," she says
"You're unbelievable," I laugh throwing a pillow at her
"What?!" She asks laughing
"That same dumb line, since we were kids and it gets me every time! How do you do it Topaz?"
"It's me baby," she says throwing the pillow back
"The boys want to play hockey," she sighs
"Not football?" I ask
"No," she groans "Football is dumb mommy! We wanna play hockey like Tayleigh, they say it every time I bring it up. I say Kait plays football and they don't care,"
I laugh
"Oh is someone sad their boys won't play football like they did?"
She pouts and nods.
"Well you have KT," I say
"Ya and she's my favourite child,"
"I am? I knew it! Owens going to eat dirt!" Madi says coming back inside
"No, KT is my favourite because she plays football,"
I throw the pillow back at her
"We don't have favourite children,"
"Cmon we all know that's not true," madi says
"Well at least Alex cleans every once in a while," I sigh
"So I'm second in both your books?" Madi asks shocked
"Youre like 5th," I say
"Is it possible for you too be my 7th if I count Sweetpea as a child?"
"That's not fair you like her more than Sweetpea," I say
"True, 6/7 not bad kid," Toni says
"This is child abuse," madi says
"Yet you insist constantly you're not a child, so technically it's psychological assault," Toni says
"Or emotional abuse," I say "which is an actual thing,"
"Oh ya sure," Toni mocks "Mrs smartypants knows her words,"
The girls start laughing and so do I.
"What are you talking about?"
"I don't know I'm tired," she sighs "I'm not great at this parenting thing. I just sit back and agree with whatever crazy shit you say,"
"You're dumb," I say
"I'm tired,"
"Girls babysit your siblings tonight, let Toni sleep before she dies,"
"Sure," Alex says
"Good because when I'm done with cancer I would love to have an alive wife,"
"Funny funny alright lets get you two home and pick up the other 3 troublemakers," toni says
"Toni we have 6 kids," I remind her
She looks and scans the two girls.
"Right there are 4 more troublemakers," she says
"Madi make sure you have 4 little kids with you, and Toni in case you forget what they look like there are two identical blonde twin girls and then two little twin boys, one with brownish red hair and the other hair like mine," I say
She rolls her eyes
"You're mean,"
They leave and yet again. I'm bored.
