June 7th
"Alexa, what the hell do you want at 7 o clock in the morning?" Brent groaned.
I have to admit, I have been excited for today since I found out about the rodeo being tonight; and since I told Brent a while ago that I would take him to one, well, today is the day.
"Meet me at my house in one hour."
"Wait why am I-"
I hung up the phone, cutting Brent off. I already had the night planned. As of right now, I just wanted some food and someone to go with.
-
"What are you doing?" Brent asked as I pulled my cowboy boots out of my closet.
"Its rodeo season baby," I screamed.
"Are we seriously?"
"Yep. I told you, rodeos are a big thing to me. I used to compete in them when I was little, you know."
"No, no I did not know that."
"Yep. Barrel racing was my strong suit, but roping wasnt that bad. I laughed as I put on my boots. And since you have never been to one, Im taking you to this one tonight."
"But I dont want to go, he whined, throwing himself back on the bed."
"Too bad. Now, put your shoes on because it starts in an hour and we need the best seats we can find."
-
"I didnt know this many people lived in Palmview," Brent said as we walked through the doors.
"Most of the people here arent from Palmview, considering we are in a completely different county now."
"Oh."
"Come on," I said, picking up his hand and dragging him along. "If we dont hurry well be standing the entire time."
-
"Honestly, I dont think that I was missing much," Brent said as we started to collect our things.
"I give up on you," I sighed, picking up my bag and slinging it over my shoulders. "But we cant leave yet, it will take forever to get out; and I want to see one of my old friends before we leave."
"Who?" Brent asked, following me through the crowd of people.
"Tiffany Weber."
"That one chick that won the barrel racing thingy?"
"Yes, the chick who won the barrel racing thingy. We used to go to the same barn when I rode."
-
"Hey Tiff."
"Oh my gosh, hey Alexa!" Tiffany dropped the brushes she was holding and gave me a hug. "I've not seen you in forever, how have you been?"
"Great, you?"
"Me and Slick have been makin some money," she said, patting her horse's neck.
"Hey buddy," I said, rubbing his nose. "Cant believe youre still riding him. Whats it been, 5 years since you started riding him?"
"Yep, and one since I bought him. I wasnt about to let someone else lease my baby." Tiffany looked over at Brent and smiled. "Hi, Im Tiffany."
"So Ive heard. Im Brent."
"So are you two, you know-"
"No!" me and Brent both yelled at the same time.
"Hes one of my best friends, hes our other friends boyfriend."
"Oh, okay. Sorry, I didnt know.""I wouldnt expect you too."
"I miss riding," I said, petting Slick again.
"Coach Lambert still talks about you all the time. Are you in a rush?"
"No, why?"
"Ive not untacked him yet, hop on and ride."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I'm not in no rush and Slick won't mind. It's not like you're gonna be running him hard or anything."
"Hell yeah, lets go."

Yes, i had to tap into my inner rodeo to write this
Which wasn't that hard considering i compete in them myself, but ya knowOof I'm sorry it took me 30 years to post again.
Lets just say that I have to write a debate case for Speech and Debate and i am NOT a debaterAlso Slick (aka Slick by Design) is a real pro barrel racing horse (who is in the NFR this year and has been in previous years) so there is a video at the top that has one of his most impressive runs if you want to know what he looks like.
And it wouldn't be an Alexa chapter if i did not inform you that THE WAVES ARE STILL FUCKING SLANTED TO ME
