September 1st

"Okay, Alexa," the nurse said, handing me some papers, "you're almost ready to go. I'm just going to show you how to change this bandage."

"Okay."

She removed the bandage that was currently on my stomach and pulled a new one out. "Okay, you just take some of this medicine and rub it on the stitches and a little bit around it. Try not to get it anywhere the sticky part of the bandage goes. Once you've done that you can just place the bandage on top of it like so and you're good to go."

"Okay, thank you," I said, standing up.

"No problem. Now, limited movement for the next week because the wound is still fresh. You can go back to school next week. Do you play any sports?"

"No."

"Okay, then I guess I don't have to worry about that," she laughed. "They'll print you an excuse when you check out."

"Okay, thank you."

"No problem. They'll be in here in a few minutes with a wheel chair, its mandatory that we take you out in one. You can go ahead and change in the bathroom." The nurse left and everybody else left the room except for Bailey. She helped me get up and changed into some clothes I had packed into the duffel bag. By the time we had finished a nurse had come back in with a wheelchair.

-

Dad pulled into the driveway and up to the garage. He helped me out and grabbed my duffel bag, walking me to the front door. We went inside and I went upstairs while he stayed downstairs to cook something for lunch.

I walked over to my desk and looked for my notebook, only to remember that it was in my duffel bag. "Dad!" I hollered. "Can you bring me my duffel bag?"

"Yeah." I heard footsteps coming up the stairs before my door opened. "Don't be lifting this while its full. The doctor said no lifting heavy things."

"Yes dad."

He smiled before setting the bag down on my bed and leaving my room.

I unzipped the zipper and opened the tab, revealing my sketch book and markers laying on top. I picked them up and crawled onto my bed, opening it up to the next clean page.

Now I knew why the Caribbean eyes never made sense; because he had green eyes. The same green eyes as the mystery dance guy. I started sketching the outline of his face and some of the details, like his eye shape, nose, and mouth.

There was a light knock at my door. "Come in," I said, carefully closing my sketch book.

Daniel walked in holding some flowers. "These are for you," he said, holding them out.

"Aw, thank you. They're gorgeous," I said, taking the flowers from him and smelling them.  I carefully set them down on my bed. "I'll have to find a vase for those."

Daniel smiled and sat down on my bed.

"Okay, what do you need?" I asked, noticing how nervous he seemed.

"So, you know how me and Bailey are dating?"

"Yeah."

"Well, she's been acting weird lately. Always smiling at her phone when she's with me, canceling plans,  I don't know, it's just making me uneasy."

"Daniel, don't worry," I said. "I know Bailey than Bailey knows herself. She would never cheat on you. When is your anniversary?" I asked, getting an idea of what might be going on. I mean, Bailey does love to throw surprises, and she plans excessively for them.

"The twelfth."

"Isn't that next week?"

"Yeah."

"Definitely don't worry about it, okay."

He gave me a smile. "Thanks Alexa."

"No problem."

Me and Daniel talked for a little while before he said that he had to go leave.

Once he left, I grabbed the flowers that he had brought me and took them downstairs to find a vase to put them in.

"Hey dad, do we have any empty vases?"

"Look under the sink."

"Okay." I walked into the kitchen and opened the cabinet under the sink. I pulled out a clear vase and set it on the counter. I grabbed a pair of scissors and cut the ends of the stems off before placing the flowers into the vase.

"I'll get it," Dad yelled from the living room. The front door opened and Corbyn walked in a few moments later.

"Hey," he said.

"Hey."

"Who got you the flowers?"

"Daniel. He just left, needed help with some relationship problems."

"Oh. Here, let me carry those for you," he offered, picking up the vase.

"I was just going to move them to the middle of the counter."

"Oh," he said, placing them down where I had said I wanted them. "Well then, let me carry you for you."

Before I could protest Corbyn picked me up and started heading up the stairs. When we got to my room he set me down on my bed and then sat beside me. I laid down, Corbyn doing the same.

"Can I kiss you?" He asked.

"What?"

"Can I kiss you?" he asked again.

I looked over at him and smiled. "Yeah, I guess."

He smiled before moving over and kissing my lips. "I like you, Alexa."

"I like you too, Corbyn."

"Good, because it would be super awkward if you didn't."

We both laughed and he stopped for a moment. "Would you like to be my-"

"Yes," I cut him off. "I would like to be your girlfriend."

"He smiled before pulling me in for a hug.
