Alice could barely believe that she had made it to the final challenge of “Project Runway”. After weeks of barely any sleep, bitchy girls and boys all running around trying to screw each other over, and stick thin models that made her feel like a boat house, the end was finally in sight. One more challenge and she was off to Fashion Week.

Alice and the remaining contestants were all sitting together at the edge of the runway, waiting for Heidi to come and announce the week’s challenge. Next to her, Alice could see Tiffany freaking out. Oh, how she hated that girl. It seemed to be Tiffany’s goal to see just how little fabric one person could wear without being censored by the FCC. Alice couldn’t help but smile as she remembered the talk that Tim Gunn had with Tiffany last week when she tried to pull off Christina Aguilera shorts. Not camera friendly, that’s for sure.

“Oh my God, can you believe that she actually wore a tube top?” Michael, by far Alice’s favorite still left on the show, whispered loudly into her ear. “There is no way that her silicone tits will stay under that cheap polyester.” Michael tilted his head slightly, obviously checking Tiffany out. “Not that I mind too much.”

Alice laughed and hit Michael good-naturedly on his forearm. “Now that’s just disgusting.”

Out of the corner of her eye, Alice could see Collin, the last remaining contestant, nod in agreement. Alice smiled brightly at him before he could turn away. Collin wasn’t much for interaction.

“I wonder what Heidi’s going to have us do today,” Alice said to Michael, still watching Collin not watch her.

“Hopefully me.” Michael laughed at the shocked look that flashed over Alice’s features. “What? I haven’t gotten any in over a month! What I won’t do to - ” Michael stopped himself short as Heidi made her way down the runway. “Tell you later.”

“Looking forward to it, I’m sure,” Alice joked out of the corner of her mouth, making sure that Heidi didn’t see her.

After the cameramen gave her the okay, Heidi smiled brightly down at the designers. “Congratulations designers. This is the last challenge before Fashion Week, you should all be very proud of yourselves for getting this far.”

Alice tried to smile genuinely but not seem annoying, she knew that right now cameras were panning carefully across her face, broadcasting her to millions of people across America.

“This week we have a very special challenge, unlike any that you have faced in the competition. For the past several weeks you have been designing women’s clothing, but this week we want to see how you handle menswear.”

Alice couldn’t help but let her carefully placed smile slip off her face. Menswear. How uninspiring.

Around her, Alice could see that the rest of the designers held similar expressions of disappointment.

Heidi smiled, “But there’s a twist.” Of course there was a twist, it was Reality TV, there’s always a twist. “You are designing stage clothes for the popular band Panic! at the Disco.”

Even though Alice was two seats over from Tiffany she could practically hear her mental fangirling. Late at night, after an exhausting day of working their asses off, nothing gave Tiffany more pleasure than to talk about why Brendon Urie was the hottest thing on the planet and sing along to “I Write Sins, Not Tragedies”.

Alice knew enough about the band to know who they were and that their stage clothes were insane. Maybe the challenge wouldn’t be so dull after all. Her mind started spinning with bright colors and tight pants when Heidi’s German-accented voice pierced through her thoughts.
