<<a/n: sorry this is so long but i didn't want to split it up. but anyways, enjoy! I'm heading off to a retreat so I wanted to post one more chapter before I leave :)>>

"Okay, does everyone know who they're grouped up with?" Tony looked around at the team as they all boarded the Quinjet.

Steve raised his hand. "I'm solo. Do you think I can get some backup? I'd rather play it safe than risk my safety."

Everyone's gaze abruptly switched over to you at his statement.

"O-kay," you shrugged. "I can do it."

"So we're all good to go, right? Barton, help me man the jet."

"Mhm," the archer nodded, and went over to the cockpit with Tony.

"Y/N?" Tony called out from the front.

"Huh?" you called back as you sat down in your seat, strapping yourself in and making sure all your weapons were secured.

"So here's the final plan. When Bruce, Clint, Buck, Sam, Thor, Peter, and I are dropped off a little ways away from the front entrance so that we can sneak in, you and Cap are going to take our places and fly the jet out to where I tell you. That's where you're going to drop Nat, along with Wanda and Pietro, by the side. Once they give you the all-clear signal, come down and get inside the building. Pretty simple, right? Capiche?"

"Got it."

He then began going over the individual plans for the others and that was when you saw Steve hunched over next to you, his head in his hands. His entire body was tensed up, and he was clenching and unclenching his fists, something you noticed he did when he was feeling anxious, a nervous habit of his that you'd picked up on.

Your hand instinctively moved over to rub soothing circles onto his back, and although he stiffened at first, he soon relaxed, leaning into your touch.

"You alright?" you spoke quietly.

"Mhm," he murmured.

"We'll do okay," you reassured him as your other hand found his, gripping it tightly.

You felt your face heat up at the contact but ignored it, knowing that now wasn't the time to think about feelings when you were going off into another battle.

...

"Y/N, Cap," you ready?" Tony shouted over the noise of the Quinjet as he and the others loaded up with their weapons, parachutes, and other necessary items, preparing to jump out. "Take your places and have your comms turned on. Don't do what Barnes did and destroy yours. We need at least one form of communication here."

"In my defense," Bucky rolled his eyes, "you were being annoying."

"Says you," he sassed back before turning on his rocket boosters, "and good luck. Don't have too much fun with Cap up here. And don't die."

"Yeah yeah, love you too," you rolled your eyes, imitating Bucky's annoyed expression, "I know what I'm doing. Try not to murder Barnes while you kick HYDRA's ass."

"You got it."

Steve settled into the copilot's seat as you sat down in the pilot's seat, knowing that you had successfully flown and landed your first jet when you were only thirteen. He briefly observed the blank, stoic expression usually painted on your face and wondered how your face could be so void of emotion when you were this focused.

"What?" you asked, noticing that his gaze was lingering on you.

"Nothing," he replied nonchalantly, putting his seatbelt on.
