The next training day at the battle dome, the teens were up against the Gronckle again. No matter how many machine gun bullets or missiles thrown at the dragon, it did no good.
On the other side, Henry had a special kind of surprise for the dragon.
After knocking Travis's mecha away, the Gronckle charged at Henry's. With quick reflexes, Henry drove back and fired his missiles. They streaked straight towards the hovering dragon that thought it may bring down the last mecha.
However, before they impacted its scales, the missiles seemed to explode and spread a sort of green mist around the air. This caused the dragon to fall down and land in front of Henry's mecha with wide pupils and a wagging clubbed tail in delight.
Up in the dome windows, Dr. Elias threw a thumbs up to Henry, to which he replied the same with his mecha.

After the training session in the hallways, the other students, except for Alice, were impressed by the results in the dashboard. They started swarming him, bombarding him with questions and compliments about the battle like:
"What was that? Some sort of poisonous gas? How did you manage that?"
"How did you do that?"
"That was awesome dude!"
"What's your secret in combat?"
"I've never seen a dragon do that!"
"What's your phone number and email address? I'd like to join in the chat with you!"
Henry, overwhelmed by all the attention on him, started to back away. "Oh crap! I left my mecha in the hangar! I gotta go make changes for the next battle!" He excused, turning around and accidentally bumping into Alice, who gave him a death glare. Henry hastily apologized before running into the elevator. The glare that Alice made gave him before the doors closed shut sent chills down his body.
'Please, at least this won't turn into a rivalry battle' he thought as the elevator doors closed.

Later that day, Henry and Elias were back at the forest with Amari and Akio.
Henry raised his hand and started to move it along Amari's fur to her neck, where he was able to place both hands and start scratching.
Happy chitters and cat-like purrs left the furred fury, who pushed her body closer to the human to get a better scratch that Henry was all too pleased to comply with. "Who's a sweet whittle girl? Yes, you are~ Yes, you are~" Henry said with affection as he began scratching more along the ear antennas, Amari raising her chin up and standing on her hind legs. Suddenly, when Henry scratched Amari's chin, she stopped and dropped into sleep as if Henry turned a cat off from functioning. He jumped away with wide eyes, staring at the furred fury before looking at Dr. Elias with a smile of amazement and disbelief crossing their features.
Akio sat there with large eyes of his own.
Giving a dragon a scratch at a specific location in the chin was deadly it seemed, and Akio couldn't help but hiss and shrink up into a dark glaring ball of scales as Elias turned towards him with a mysterious look.
"You touch me like that, and you will find yourself without hands!" Akio bared his teeth as the man inched forwards.
The man proceeded forward anyways despite the night fury's warning growls. Suddenly, the man lunged forwards and Akio couldn't help but scream in horror as he rose up with wide eyes.
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

New idea: develop slow-nimble hands to appease the dragon and disarm it temporarily.
The next session in the battle dome, the teens were up against the Deadly Nadder.
Swinging her rocket axe at the dragon, Alice jumped out of the way when the dragon knocks it down with its tail. As the Nadder charged at Henry, he made his mecha turn into bike mode so it becomes more low and harmless-looking. This action made the dragon stop in its tracks and inspect the bike as a bird would do with a strange object.
A battle cry with the screech of wheels and rocket engines made the two look away from each other and to Alice's kurata, who was charging towards them with axe and progressive knives ready.
Thinking quickly, Henry pulled out a mecha arm from the wheel configuration and carefully scrtatched at the Nadder's neck, finding its weak spot before scratching its chin. The dragon immediately went down, causing Alice to stop in her tracks and look at Henry in disbelief.

At the lunchroom Henry arrives just in time, walking towards his usual spot. His face expressed surprise when some of the older students and his teammates, except for Alice of course, crowd the table and talks about the achievements in dragon training and what upgrades he should get from the school.
"Henry, you are gonna come out first like a hero! No doubt about it!" one guy commented.
Alice watched the others in the distance before crushing her seltzer can.
Boy, she was REALLY jealous.

Henry and Elias came back with loads of toolboxes to work and adjust the saddles.
As Henry fidgeted with a green laser pointer, he saw Amari and Akio suddenly get interested by the green dot on the ground. They tried catching it like regular cats would with a laser pointer, and Henry could help but giggle as he moved the dot around the lake edge.

New idea: use laser pointer instead of bullets or any type of weapon to distract the dragon.
The team now wore protective armor, and they weren't in their mechas this time.
["Meet the Terrible Terror! Small but deadly!"] Gideon's voice said as the small cell door opened.
The dragon is revealed...only to be the size of a small chihuahua.
"Ha! I could easily squash that thing like a—" Travis began laughing when the tiny dragon attacked him.
"AAAAAGGGHHH!!! GET IT OFF!!!" Travis screamed as the Terrible Terror gnawed at the teen's nose. Even though it didn't have teeth, the tiny dragon was sure making a number on the teenager's nose.
Then the tiny dragon noticed a red dot and proceeded to follow it.
"AAGH!! MY NOSE!! MY NOSE!!!" Travis yelled in pain as he clutched his nose and rolled over.
The small dragon chased the rifle laser back into its cage until Henry closed the door.
"Wow, he's better than you EVER were" Fernando commented to the blonde girl, who gave him a glare.
Henry locked the small mechanized door once the small dragon was inside, and the other students up behind the glass of the dome started cheering and clapping their hands.
