R Y E N N E A T S T E L L I

Year 5

I admit, I had forgotten how City X was like since I started living with my grandmother in the country. Such busy roads, traffic takes such a long time to get out of. Unbelievable compared to those back in City Z where I reside with my grandmother. Since it is like so, I am very relieved that I do not live here anymore, nor do I plan on ever returning and settling permanently here. Of course, this occasion is the only exception to my vow.

I arrived at the hospital that my Aunt owned and hopped out of the black, sedan car, walking towards the building entrance with my uncle in tow.

"Are you excited, little Rynnie?" He asks me as we bypass the front without much of a nod of acknowledgement. I looked up at him and blinked, before nodding.

"You said that I will have a new baby sibling?" I ask him, to which he smiles and nods before asking, "Would you like to know if it is a boy or a girl?"

Immediately, I shook my head. "No, I already know that it's going to be a boy." I tell him bluntly. He stared at me in shock.

Ah...right. My parents deliberately kept it a secret from me, but since it was mentioned in the novel that the villainess had a brother, I had already known.

"How did you know!?"

I was silent for a moment and did not answer him right away. Instead, I ran towards the elevator and pressed the button to distract my uncle into slight chaos. I will just act like a child whom has a short attention span. Yes. That's a good plan.

"H-hey! Ryenne! You shouldn't run in a hospital!" My uncle exclaimed to me as he sped up his pace to catch up to me.

Childishly, I laughed and giggled at my uncle. "Uncle Theryn, you mustn't run in a hospital or else Auntie Mara will scold you!"

My uncle let out an exhausted sigh as he rested his hands on his hips. "Please, don't threaten this poor uncle of yours, little Rynnie."

I smiled mischievously, but did not say anything. Instead, I hummed a tune to distract my uncle once again, or maybe it was to give him more anxiety? I wasn't too sure, but one thing I did know was that teasing this uncle of mine is just too much fun.

Soon, I no long paid attention to my uncle as I immediately skipped into the elevator which had finally arrived. Taking my first step, I had not noticed—or did not care enough to notice—the people whom occupied in the elevator before our arrival, therefore stepping on the toes of a boy. The boy quickly loses his balance, falling backwards and bringing me along with him to my dismay.

"—Xael!"

"—Ryenne!"

Both uncle and the boy's guardian exclaimed in surprise. I could not yet process what had just happened. It was all too fast for me to think properly.

"Ouuu!" I hear someone groan, snapping me out of my daze. I look down to find a cute little boy with dark, black hair scrunching his face us in pain. Am I really that heavy?

Before I could examine the boy further, I felt a pair of hands carry me up from the pits of my arms and let me hang in the air for a moment before placing me down on the floor far, far away from the young boy.

"I sincerely apologize for my niece, Ulrices." I hear my uncle address the man with familiarity and glance over with slight interest. A business tycoon, I'm guessing?

As I focus my sights on the man, I see him smile kindly, and very handsomely at that. Just like the boy from before, the man had a full head of dark, black hair and warm, brown eyes.

I turned my attention back to the little boy who now stood besides the man whom I assume to be his father. Side by side, the resemblance is uncanny; every feature nearly identical.

Snapping myself out of my awe, I notice that the boy had an arm brace that wrapped around his shoulder. How such a young kid got such an injury is a wonder to me.

"No need to apologize for her, Theryn." The man, Ulrices, says as he turns to look at me. "First, we should introduce the children to one another, shouldn't we?"

Feeling conflicted, I turned and pretend as if I did not hear him. I do not want an introduction, nor do I want a repeat of what happened with Fleur, that competitive child. I'm just gonna go now...

"Ah! Yes! That's a great idea!" My uncle agrees to much my dismay. I look back at him in distress, but he ignored the look that I gave him and ushered me to the front.

All eyes were on me, making me want to crawl back into a shell like a turtle would.

I blinked at the boy awkwardly and he does the same, but his were full of curiosity while mine were full of dread.

"This is my niece, Ryenne, Theo's daughter." My uncle tells the man as he nudged me forward until I nearly trip over my toes. I send a glare his way, but he just ignored like before and kept smiling.

"This is my son, Xael." The man tells us. He does what my uncle did and nudged the boy forward until both him and I were only a foot away from each other. We just watched each other, not sure of what we're supposed to do.

I studied him for a while. Dark black hair and a pair of warm, dark brown eyes that at times looked as dark as the abyss of space. He had a tiny mole right above the tail of his right brow, making him all the more attractive. Yep. Without a doubt, this is the Second Male Lead of the novel.

As he did nothing and I did not plan on engaging in any sort of conversation, I turned to my uncle and glared at him while folding my arms across my chest. "Uncle, can we go now? Mommy and Daddy have been waiting for us this whole time now and I want to get home before the sun goes down."

Letting out a sigh of defeat, my uncle nodded.

"Theo and Ophelia are here?" The man, Ulrices, asks.

"My sister-in-law had just given birth to their new son." My uncle informs before asking, "Would you like to join us?"

"I would love to, but unfortunately I have to attend to business back at the company. If space clears up, please let them know I'd love to come and visit." The father son duo then make their way to the exit, much to my delight.

I'm ecstatic that they left, after all, it is not within my plans to get further involved with the main characters of the novel than I already have. Two have already been struck down with one whom I see often and the other recently met. If I meet mister male lead, I am calling blasphemy!
