Primary: I am the creator of this masterpiece

Year 12

Two weeks passed by faster than I had anticipated and unexpectedly, I found myself a little saddened by the fact that we were no longer going to attend the primary section. Or perhaps it was my sense of loss from not being able to spend my time idly under the shade of the luscious trees in my garden that I had so painstakingly transformed.

I stared at my efforts and hard work with nostalgia, remembering the first time my cousins had shown it to me. It was an overgrown jungle just waiting for a haircut and gladly, I gave it just that.

As I quietly reminisced on this garden's beginnings, I felt a presence approaching from behind. Slightly turning my body, I see Xael watching me with wonder.

"What are you doing here? The ceremony is going to start soon, you know?" He informs, making me raise a questioning brow.

"I know...So why are you here?" I ask in response.

"I was looking for you since Isa was complaining, but I also wanted to see the garden one last time." With a rare, soft smile, he turned to me with a nostalgic expression on his face. "You did a good job decorating it."

I rolled my eyes as a proud smile made its way to my lips. "I did a good job fixing the plants. Grandmother would be so proud of me."

I found myself laughing at my own comment as I reached into my bag and pulled out a silver plaque.

Curiously, Xael leaned towards me to get a better look at it.

"What's this for?"

I smirked at him before I started walking towards the large tree that shaded most of the garden. Once I was a foot away from the trunk, I stopped at a boulder that had a rectangle carved into it, the perfect size to fit my plaque in.

"This is what I will leave behind. Although I am not the founder of this garden, I am the creator of this masterpiece, so all those after us should know who resided in this spot first." I tell him as I traced the carvings in the plaque with my index finger.

"I sure hope my name is on that. I remember doing a lot of dirty work here." He jokes, reminding me of a time in which I forced him and the others to help with the flower beds. Although he had not minded, the two others did.

"Don't worry. It is." I assured as I moved out of the way to let him see.

I watched as his eyes wandered over the plaque before stopping on his name and subtly nodding in satisfaction. He then turned to me expectantly and I just raised a questioning brow.

"What? You got something to say?" I asked in a provocative tone, to which he rolled his eyes.

"Let's go now that you're finished. I don't know if it's a good thing to leave Isa and Litheon alone for so long." He reminds me. I could only sigh before conceding and walking with him to the main revue.

Contrary to our expectations, the two appeared to be quite amicable, but perhaps that was only pretenses in the face of their parents and teachers. Internally, they surely were dying to get at each other's throats.

The ceremony started not long after I arrived, but it also ended swiftly, allowing us to say one last farewell to our homeroom teacher along with taking photos with friends and family. But not only was this a time for a celebration of us children to move on to becoming adolescents, but also a chance for the parents to network with others.

Although it was not in my family's interests, it was a situation that could not be helped. Unfortunately, I realized too late that this will become my lifestyle for many years to come. A lifestyle my friends and I will learn to dread.
