I found a picture that looks like Sophie's house! ^^

Sophie's POV

"Morgan get your *** down here now!" My father yelled from downstairs. He's always angry in the morning because he has hangovers. (A/N: I won't put the bad words, just imagine them.)

I quickly threw some clothes on and ran downstairs to where my father was.

"Yes?" I said as I started making breakfast for the two of us.

"I signed you up for school. Its about 5 miles away and they don't offer a bus to our house." He said.

We just moved to North Carolina last week from Nebraska. My father didn't have enough money to support us so now we live in a terrible place. We can barely afford food or clothes. I have old school supplies since fourth grade and haven't gone to school since then. Im 16 now and supposed to be in eleventh grade.

"You start tomorrow." And with that he sat down on the couch with a beer.

I am so excited because I love to learn. I have read every book I could get my hands on, and I haven't been to school in six years. Its a long story that will be told later.

I sat the plate of eggs, bacon, and toast on my dad's TV tray with a glass of orange juice. I had a few bites of eggs and nothing else.

"By the way," My dad started talking in between bites, "You need to take a test tomorrow to determine your class levels and you need to select an elective."

"Oh okay." I stood up and went upstairs to read a book I found about human biology.

The next day

I woke up to my old 'Barbie' alarm clock that I've had forever. I put on a white tank top with a long grey cardigan. I pulled on my old skinny jeans and fishtail braided my hair. I bought this outfit from goodwill for $3, in the stores it came from it probably would be $50. (A/N: Find all outfits and looks at @sydnaifanfiction on Instagram!)

I quickly gathered my old school supplies which consisted of a ripped pink binder, sparkly blue pencil pouch, and used pencils. I also grabbed one of my favorite books 'Where the red fern grows' and walked downstairs. On the table was a backpack and a pair of black high-heeled, knee high boots.

"I thought you would need the backpack since you don't have one, and the boots because it gets very rainy and muddy here." My dad said.

"Thanks!" I hugged him, "Where did you get the money?"

"I was saving up." He said.

I can't believe he actually did something good for once. I only expect him to hook up with girls and get drunk.

After making breakfast, I looked at the backpack which was a black, white, and pink polka-dot Jansport. The tag was a goodwill one that said $10:original $40. A lot for a backpack. I shoved my school supplies in the bag and decided I would wear the boots. No tag on them. I zipped them on and ran out the door.

We live in a house kinda towards the middle of the woods. We have no neighbors but we do live close to a lake. It was going to be a long walk so I decided to look around. The lake had houses lining the shore, big houses. I saw a railroad track and walked on it until I saw a familiar street. I took the street to a grassy field. I didn't know what time it was because I don't have a phone and I stupidly forgot my watch. I started to run across the field to a school. The sign on the school read, "Davidson Day". I guess this is the place.

The front of the school was filled with teens. I walked to the door with my head down trying to not draw any attention. I hate that. Drawing attention to myself. I opened the door and looked up from the ground. A sign said 'Office: second story, first door on the left.' Wow this school has more than one level. I walked to the office and opened that door.
