"We can never go back again, that much is certain. The past is still close to us. The things we have tried to forget and put behind us would stir again, and that sense of fear, of furtive unrest, struggling at length to blind unreasoning panic - now mercifully stilled, thank God - might in some manner unforeseen become a living companion as it had before." ― Daphne du Maurier, Rebecca

Sophie's POV (about three months later)

Today is the start of tryouts. I'm just trying for cheer this time. After school I go to the locker room and change into a cheer shirt and black shorts. I put my hair up and go to the field. It's just Clair and her posey.

"Hey Sophie." She smiles.

"Yea hi." I say, sitting on the bleachers.

"Don't expect to make the team this year." She says.

"What? You can't just not let me on! It's about skill." I say.

"You don't have skill." She laughs. "You only made the team last year because Cameron asked me to let you on."

"W-what?" I gasp.

"He said you weren't making any team so he asked me to let you on." She smiled. I ran I to the locker room and ran to my car. I sat in it, crying on the wheel. I heard a small knock on the window, looking up, I saw Cam. I opened the door and got out.

"What do you want?" I sneered.

"I saw you running out of the school and I came to see whats wrong." He grabbed my hands and I pulled them away.

"I'm a little disappointed." I say. "Thats whats wrong."

"Disappointed? In who?" He looks at me.

"You." I look at the ground.

"Why? What did I do?" He freaked out.

"Clair told me that I only made the team because you asked her to let me on it." I say and his face drops.

"I-I just felt bad that you couldn't get into anything. I didn't want you depressed." He said.

"Really? Because now I won't be depressed after I found out that I didn't actually make the team?!" I shout. I few people glared at us.

"Well sorry for helping you." He said and went back in the school.

I got into my car and drove home to eat ice cream and watch TV.

Cameron's POV

I ran I to the school and to the field. I spot the cheer tryouts and went up to Clair.

"Clair can I talk to you?" I ask her. She giggles and looks to her friends.

"Sure, be right back." She says to her friends and we go in one of the tunnels.

"Want do you want to talk about Cammy?" She smiles, pulling me close to her.

"You told Sophie." I growled.

"Yea, she deserved to know." She smirked.

"But you promised." I look at her.

"I didn't promise anything. But you did promise to do anything for me." She comes closer to me.

"Fine what do I have to do?" I say.

"Kiss me."

"No, I can't do that!" I step away from her. "We broke up remember."

"You have to keep the promise or I will tell Sophie about how we used to date." She said, coming closer to me.

"Okay. But one short kiss." I say. I inch closer and we kiss. I feel completely disgusted. I hear a camera noise. I pull away and see one of her friends taking a picture with her phone.

"No! Delete that!" I run after her.

I'm in trouble.
