Last April Fools was... Difficult, at best, for Peter Parker.

There was only so much he could do to prank Tony Stark. He could try mixing up candy, he could try drinking "windex", he could even try replacing Tony's deodorant with cream cheese. But none of that worked last year, and Peter Parker is not one for redundancy.

So he set his standards low and his goals achievable. That's the recipe for success, right? Of course!

This year, his goal was simple. Rickroll Tony Stark.

After all, rickrolling somebody is one of the biggest internet trolls around. All Peter had to do was approach the problem carefully, create multiple fool-proof plans to ensure a high success rate, and then initiate the plan properly.

Easy.

After a quick google search, Peter comes up with three possible ways to rickroll his caring mentor—and he was going to try all of them.

Plan One: simply just send the link. Clickbait is key!

Peter sits on the ceiling, hiding in the corner as he watches Tony sitting in the living room.

[Peter: Mr. Stark check out this video ]

Peter can hear Tony's phone chime, and he look with wide eyes as Tony opens the message. He sees Tony typing back. Here it comes. Here it—

[Tony: I'm busy doing work stuff right now, I'll watch it in a bit]

Peter rolls his eyes and crawls away. Plan B it is.

Of course, he has no problem with waiting the entire day for Tony to click on the link—other than he has every problem with it. Peter Parker may not be redundant, but he sure was impatient.

He had valid reasoning to be impatient, too.

Tony Stark was the type of person to get every piece of work done in the span of a week, or to get bored within the first five minutes and leave it for a month. For him, time truly was a construct.

Plan Two: Write the lyrics somewhere.

Peter knew precisely the location of where cursed-ness was about conspire. He hops off the ceiling, traveling to the lab. Once he gets there, he pauses.

Peter scans the room for something to write on. His eyes land on the whiteboard. He grins and goes over to it, picking up the marker.

He writes in very small letting, in the top right of the board.

'We're no strangers to love... you know the rules, and so do I! A full commitments what I'm thinking of..' and so on. He steps back to admire his work.

It's beautiful.

But—still something that Tony has a chance of not seeing until later. He needs his third plan to begin initiation. His last resort. His savior. His egg in these trying times.

Plan Three: Play the cursed tune, sacrificing yourself for the greater good.

Peter takes a bated breath as he realizes what he must do.

"This is so sad..." Peter says quietly, letting defeat wash over his skin like ramen noodles floating in tap water. "FRIDAY, please play Rick Astley's 'Never Gonna Give You Up' in the living room at full volume."

"No."

Peter freezes. The defeat stops, waiting. Previously mentioned ramen may be spared from the cold tap water. It's unsure. it's hopeful, but hesitant. "I—No?"

"No." FRIDAY's voice is cold. "Not again."

The AI's voice speaks as if it's been through a great tragedy. It probably has. Poor FRIDAY.

"Fair enough," Peter speaks slowly and carefully. He takes pity on the AI's tone. "May I ask—"

"No."

Peter nods and just walks out of the lab. "Fine, I'll do it myself."

He crawls back up on the ceiling and moves to the living room. He sets up the video, and just as he almost hits play, Tony texts him.

Hope now blossoms in his heart. Has he finally done it? Has Tony clicked on the video link, falling victim to one of Peter's blunders? Has he won?

[Tony: New Star Wars movie details!! ]

Peter brightens anyway. That's good enough for him! He clicks on the video.

Then he sees it.

The faded colours.

The shoe.

He hears the music before it even starts.

"..."

Peter drops off of the ceiling and then smashes his phone into the ground, letting out an unholy screech. "IMSODONEITRYEVERYTIMETOPRANKYOUANDNONEOFITEVERWORKSITRYSOHARDANDIJUSTKEEPGETTINGBULLIEDANDYOUDTHINKIVELEARNEDTONOTMESSWITHYOUBUTALAS—"

(Translation, for those who don't speak Peter Parker: I'm so DONE! I try everytime to prank you, and none of it ever works—I try so hard, and I just keep getting bullied. And you'd think I've learned to not mess with you, but alas—")

Tony, meanwhile, is standing in the doorway, cackling loudly.

"I CANT BELIEVE YOU HAVE THE N E R V E," Peter's face is all screwed up, and it's the funniest thing Tony has ever seen in his life, probably. "THE A U D A C I T Y—"

Tony turns the camera he's holding towards him. "Happy April Fool's Day!"

"scRE—"
