Chapter 23 - Aftermath

Ever since the gunshots went off, you grabbed Clementine and headed for cover behind a small wall. You haven't peeked out since all you had was a knife.

Clementine began panicking and hyperventilating, so you grabbed her hand, which soon led to a hug. She buries her head in your chest and you feel her shaking as more gunshots ring out.

Y/N: Hey... Hey, calm down. It's okay. Nothing bad is gonna happen to you while I'm here, okay? I promise.

She doesn't look up, but her shaking is less now. You see her gun hanging out her pocket, so you decided to take it incase any walkers come.

Mike: Shit... Shit! I'm hit!

Bonnie: Mike get over here!

You peeked up and see Mike run over to where Bonnie was. You also see Kenny behind a tree.

Kenny: Fuck you! You started this shit!

Luke then hops over the wall you and Clem were behind and sits next you.

Luke: Y/N! Oh thank God you're alright!

He looks at Clementine, who still had her head buried in your chest.

Luke: Did she get hit?!

Y/N: No. She's just scared. This needs to end soon.

He nods as he peeks out of cover. You can see his eyes widen.

Luke: Shit. The kid's out there!

He runs out and grabs the baby, as he was about to get back in cover he gets shot in the leg.

Bonnie: Luke, no!

You see one of the Russians aim their gun at him. You were about to shoot him, but Kenny gets him. Clementine seems to be more calm now and gets out of your arms.

Y/N: Are you okay?!

He hands the baby to Clem.

Luke: I... I think the bullet went straight through... Shit. I don't know. I'm gonna be fine... I'm gonna be fine...

You then notice Arvo giving his sister CPR. Kenny runs over to him and grabs him, holding a gun to his head.

Kenny: Get out here! Or I'll put a bullet in this kid's head!

Clementine: Kenny, what're you doing?

Kenny: I'm ending this. Get out here! Right fucking now!

His sister then turns and starts crawling towards you. You shoot her.

Arvo: No!

He gets out of Kenny's arms and Kenny dives into cover as Arvo knells over his dead sisters body.

Arvo: Natasha! Natasha! No, please!

He starts gargling on his blood as Jane threw a knife in the back of his neck. Kenny walks up and shoots him.

Kenny: It's safe to come out.

Bonnie: Here, I got him.

You walked up to Clem and gave handed her the gun.

Y/N: You okay?

Clementine: Yeah... Thanks for comforting me...

She hugs you. You smiled and hug her back.

Y/N: Yeah... No problem. 

She lets go and you both walk over to Jane.

Clementine: Are you okay?

Jane: I think so. I didn't know this man... I've never killed someone that didn't wrong me in some way, that didn't deserve it.

Y/N: Well, Kenny technically killed him. Besides, he was going to kill us.

Jane: Yeah... that's why I did it, but... it felt wrong.

Clementine: Come on... Or are you still gonna leave...?

Jane: I'll... I'll stay... Let's go.

You three walked over to where the rest of the group was, they were looking at the deceased Rebecca.

Mike: How... How did this happened?

Luke: She... turned. Just like that.

Bonnie: It was a good thing Y/N spotted it first. Called it out.

Luke: This isn't anyone's fault. She... she just lost too much blood.

Clementine: She's with Alvin now.

Bonnie: Yeah... yeah, she is. Don't worry, Becca... we'll take care of your boy. You rest easy.

Kenny: You piece of shit!

You turned around and see Kenny beating up Arvo.

Bonnie: Hey! Hey!

She hands the baby back to Clem. Mike pushes Kenny away from him.

Mike: Stop. He's not a threat to us!

Kenny: How can you say that? Of course he is!

He pulls out a gun.

Kenny: Get out of the way!

Mike: Whoa, what're you doing?

Kenny: I'm doing the same thing this asshole tried to do to us!

Y/N: Get out of the way, Mike.

Mike: Y/N?!

Arvo: There is house, food... please. Please, I can take you.

Kenny: Bullshit!

Arvo: No, no! Is true. We have house. Food.

Luke: See? He wants to help.

Kenny: Oh, don't be stupid. He's just trying to save his skin. Why would he help us after he just tried to kill us?

Arvo: I... I don't want to see more people dead.

Kenny: Then close your eyes and I'll make it quick.

Y/N: We can't trust him. What if he's trying to lure us to his main camp?

Jane: It's worth the risk to check this place out. Trust him, don't trust him, it doesn't matter. We should still go.

Kenny turned his attention towards her.

Kenny: You stay outta this! You're the reason these fuckers came after us in the first place!

Jane: Don't try and pin this on me.

Y/N: I can't lie, it's my fault too.

Bonnie: Just think about the baby, Kenny.

Kenny: Fine. We got something to tie this shitbird up?

Bonnie: Yeah... I got something.

Arvo: Follow me. I take you.

Kenny: Just give me a reason. 

Luke: Yeah, man. He gets it.

Everyone walks away expect for you and Clem.

Y/N: So... you sure you'll be fine?

She smiles at you.

Clementine: Yes. I'll be fine. As much I'd love to stay here and talk, we better not trail behind.

Y/N: Alright.

You and her caught up with the rest of the group as they followed Arvo to the "house".
