For the next couple of days everyone was kept busy. Ruby and I were in charge of cleaning all the dusty paintings in the house and making sure no doxies were hidden behind them. Fred and George were supposed to be locating any objects in the bedrooms that looked like dark artifacts, but instead they always snuck away to work on their products. The trio and Ginny were left with the most muggle work which was dusting and vacuuming the corners of the house. This hardly left our group any time to meet together unless it was a short break for meals.

I was glad to finally have an excuse to stop cleaning when Ron announced our booklists had arrived from downstairs. I trudged down to the first floor along with Ruby. Since dad worked at the school, we already received all of our books in the beginning of the summer, but I was curious to see if any of us were in the same classes.

With a loud cracking noise Fred and George appeared beside me and grabbed their own envelopes.

"Ah yes maybe we'll find out who the new defense against the dark arts teacher is," Fred said skimming his list.

"I know," Ruby piped up making all eyes turn to her, "we heard it the day we came on the radio remember Violet. Her name sounded like Umwritch?"

"Umbridge," Harry repeated her actual name, "she was at my hearing."

"What? At your trial last week?" I asked Harry. He nodded in response and I wondered what the drastic change in staffing was. I knew that Professor Moody would not be returning since he ended up being a psychopathic death eater using polyjuice potion, but I didn't expect a ministry worker to take his place

I looked to Ron seeing him with his mouth slightly gaped open, still staring at his letter.

"What's the matter," Fred said impatiently moving around to read the letter too, "Prefect?"

George leapt forward hearing this and turned the envelope upside down. Out fell a small pin that resembled the colors of Gryffindor.

"Wow Ron congratulations!" I patted him on the back while he seemed to come back to his senses from the shock. Harry picked up the pin that fell on the ground and seemed to inspect it when the door flew open. In walked Hermione, her cheeks flushed.

"Oh I knew you'd get it!" she said excitedly, "I got one too see Harry," she held up the bright badge in her hand.

"It's Ron whose prefect. Not me," he said quickly.

"Ron?" her jaw dropped, and I elbowed her hard, "I mean wow! Well done Ron! That's really-"

"Unexpected," agreed George nodding. Mrs. Weasley then came into the room holding a huge bin of laundry.

"Good. Ginny said your envelopes finally arrived. Ron you'll be needing new pajamas so what color could you like?"

"Get him gold and red to match his badge," Fred smirked. She dropped the clothes she had been folding in her hand and looked to Ron.

"His...but...Ron you're not?" she saw the badge in his hand and let out a loud scream. She began gushing over Ron being another family prefect.

"Damn I really had my heart set on it, but maybe if I try harder next year," I sighed in fake disappointment. Hermione just shook her head while the twins laughed at me.

"Yeah right, you prefect? That's like me being headboy," Fred teased. Ron was still being smothered over his mother who was kissing him all over his face. I noticed Harry not saying anything and I went over to where he was standing in the corner.

"You don't seem very happy," I said quietly. He just shrugged.

"I mean I wasn't hoping to get it," he said.
