Shopping for Eri

We make it to the mall and Eri looks about as excited as I've ever seen her. She squeezed my hand and looked at everything with wonder in her big eyes. I gave her hand a small tug to signal that we were moving now.

" So what kind of clothes are you interested in?" I asked her when we got to the kids clothing store. None of these clothes looked good. Maybe it's because I'm a guy but I don't think anyone would want a unicorn with a smiling piece of shit on their child. Who would do that?

" This." She held up a small pink shirt with the words, don't mess with daddy's girl, on it. Fitting for her. I nodded to show my approval.

" Put it in the basket. Let's find some more. This time tomorrow you will have enough clothes to be able to make several good outfits." I will make sure you don't look revolting.

No child that I look after will be strutting around looking like a terrible anime villain. I grabbed a couple of cute skirts from the clothing rack. We will have to make sure these fit before purchasing.

" Katsuki! What the hell are you doing in a kid's clothing store?" And there goes the skirts. Now they're dirty.

" Watch your language." I snapped back. Eri looked worried. Shit now I've done it. I tried to hold back my temper for her. I knelt down and looked her in the eyes. " Hey it's ok. That there is just my mom." My mother looked at me shocked.

" Please tell me you didn't adopt a child. You're just in high school for crying out loud." Can't you see Eri is worried? If this keeps up she might lose control.

" She's not mine. Aizawa is taking care of her but tonight I am so he can go do whatever he's doing." I explained while, hopefully, sounding calm.

" Well why didn't you say she was Shouta's kid?"

" You know Sho?" Of course. Mention the caterpillar and she breaks.

" Yes. He a good friend of mine a while back. How did he..." I put my arm up to stop her.

" Don't ask. It's a sensitive topic. Now can I go back to buying clothes for little Eri. As it stands that's her only outfit." I pointed to the dress she was wearing.

" Sure. Have this so you can get the good quality clothes and not the cheap made ones that fall apart after a few times in the wash." She handed me a her credit card.

" What about you?" She's obviously is at the mall for something.

" Oh I have cash on me. Just get the girl some clothes and say hi to the family for me." Without letting me fight she walked off.

We walked out of that store with more bags than I originally planned. We also stopped in a haircare store to get some of her own headbands, hair clips, and bows. As far as I know she was enjoying herself. She was carrying her own hairbrush and walking to the beat of the music playing over the speakers.

" I'm hungry. How about we grab some food before heading back?" Her eyes lit up for what felt like the millionth time. I even saw the corner of her lips trying to move up into a smile. I think I remember Deku saying something about her having forgotten how to smile and that's why she even came to UA in the first place. All because he wanted her to see the show. Well now I'm getting her close to smiling. Maybe tomorrow she will actually smile.
