Chantal's eyes were still following Nathan as he disappeared upstairs. She would have shared the password of the portrait that leads to the Grand Staircase, but he was already off. Chantal looked back at Cedric only after a few seconds when Nathan's steps were far away.
''Fancy seeing you here...'' Chantal said, gazing at Cedric with a happy smile.
She couldn't get the word girlfriend out of her head. The fact that Cedric called her his girlfriend. She quickly wondered if it had been because Nathan was there.
''Fancy seeing you here with him,'' Cedric said back.
She immediately sensed jealousy in Cedric's voice. Chantal couldn't deny that she felt pleased.
''We ended up hanging a bit after the ceremony, that's all,'' Chantal told.
''And you did not think of bringing me along?''
''It was a quick decision and, besides, I lost sight of you after the ceremony...''
''Maybe I was looking for you too...''
''Looking for your girlfriend?''
Cedric gave a slight chuckle. He cocked an eyebrow at her, looking away for a brief second.
''You caught that, didn't you?'' he asked.
