|Chapter Eighty five : Ice|

"Can't hurt my feelings if I don't have any"

"Is that your view on life?"

"Basically" I said to Blaise laughing as he sent a smile my way from where I sat beside him on his bed in his dorm

"So what happened?"

"He's a prick Blaise and I hate him"

"Blunt"

"Would you expect anything else?" I asked him laughing as he joined in slightly and shook his head, the most recent argument with Malfoy still fresh in my mind

"No I really wouldn't. You know, he does want to be on good terms with you-"

"That's only because I'm on the quidditch team-"

"No, I think he genuinely does want to be on good terms with you"

"You think weirdly then"

"You think of things so negatively"

"Do you blame me? I'm a realist, more pessimist but yeah..."

"Why did you trail off?"

"I'm not sure" I said laughing as I sunk down on the bed and let out a sound that resembled a wail as Blaise turned to me with a concerned look

"What the hell was that all about?"

"The back of my shirt has rolled up and I can't be assed sorting it"

"So for that- you decided to make the sound that resembled a constipated bird?" He asked with furrowed brows and wide eyes as I started laughing loudly while a smile crossed his face and he shook his head at me

"How do you know what a constipated bird sounds like?"

"Because I listened to you!"

"Fuck off" I said to him after I had eventually got myself to stop laughing and I pushed myself into a sitting position and sighed

"Your shirt..."

"I know. I'll just leave it" I said sighing before letting out a laugh and reluctantly reaching my arm around to tug my shirt down as I turned to him

"Do you want to go to the lake? We could always skate" I suggested smiling and watched as he shrugged

"Alright, but if I freeze you're carrying me back"

"Sure" I scoffed before the two of us got up and I ran and quickly grabbed my cloak before meeting him in the common room as we left and headed outside, the cold mid December air nipping at my skin as I smiled at the snow covered ground as snow started to slowly fall

"It's snowing!" I whispered excitedly with a grin on my face as I looked up, watching the snow fall towards us before I turned away and started walking towards the frozen lake as I jumped down the banking and smiled at it

"Amelia!"

"Blaise!" I countered back with a grin as I looked at him over my shoulder and he looked at me with raised eyebrows while he walked towards the banking

"You said go to the lake, not on it"

"One, I suggested we could skate which would require going on the ice and two, too late" I said laughing with a shrug as I slipped my coat off before flicking my wand, my shoes turning to skates as I jumped onto the ice laughing as I looked at him and he stared at me with wide eyes

"Can you even skate?!"

"Of course I can! Come on!" I yelled at him as he stood at the edge and shook his head as I made my way over to him grinning and watched as he stumbled back a couple of steps as I smirked before I skated back and glanced at him before moving down the length of the lake at speed as I quickly turned around, the blade scraping across the top of the ice as it left a tiny pile of frost and I started laughing before making my way back to Blaise who stared at me

"What?"

"Nothing-"

"Then come on!" I said to him laughing as he shook his head and I looked at him confused before making my skates disappear as I stood on the ice

"What's wrong?" I asked quietly as I walked over to him as the two of us sat down at the edge of the ice, leaning against a log as I turned to him

"I can't"

"Can't what? Go on the ice?" I asked and watched as he nodded silently

"Why didn't you tell me? I would've thought of something else to do"

"I've never told anyone, I don't want to stop you from enjoying yourself, you can go back on the ice"

"Nah I'll stay here, it's warmer here. And plus I'm really lazy at this moment so I'll sit here and talk to you" I told him smiling as he sent a small appreciative smile my way while the two of us sat there with each other as I draped my cloak around the two of us

"You're going to freeze" he told me as he tried to give me my cloak back but I pushed his arm away laughing

"I won't"

"Yes you will Amelia-"

"I really won't"

"And how not?"

"Because I'm practically immune"

"I said you would freeze not catch a cold" he corrected me as I fell silent before the two of us started laughing

"You should get a hearing aid"

"Why? I don't need one"

"Clearly you do"

"I really don't. I have the best hearing, just to prove it I can hear the Weasley twins walking towards us, and it's not the fact that I didn't hear you it's the fact that I didn't hear you" I said as we fell silent and turned our heads around as a smirk grew on my face as I looked at the twins who had stopped dead in their tracks and stared at us

"No chance you knew it was us"

"I did, you each take the same steps at the same time, I could hear you laughing and I also seen the reflection of your red hair on the frozen surface of the lake" I explained to the three of them as the twins stared at me before simultaneously nodding before they walked away without saying another word as I turned back around

"See? Great hearing-"

"Not all of that was hearing, that was you just being smart and resourceful by using your surroundings"

"I feel like you're taking away my bragging rights"

"Also, let me quote; 'it's not the fact that I didn't hear you it's the fact that I didn't hear you'. I'm not even sure that makes sense!" He said laughing as I sat there smirking

"Oh shush and let me have this"
