Chapter 66: The Gift of Food

< THIS IS THE SECOND PART TO THE BIRTHDAY SPECIAL - If you don't find this to be your cup of tea, the only important story-element in this chapter is right at the end of the chapter (I've noted where this occurs) I'll be back to normal chapters from here on out. (Maybe a Valentines' Special? Not 100% at this rate though, but I'll try!) >

I took a break from the festivities to join Asuna in the kitchen and help her lay the table, turns out she'd made quite the collection of foods, there almost wasn't enough space on the extended table for it all!

Breads and sandwiches with various fillings took up the majority of the space, but  there were also several sweet pastries-

Asuna: "It's a shame there isn't much variety in what we can cook yet..."

Y/N: "I'm sure as we climb higher up through the floors we'll end up learning a wider variety of recipes, right?"

Asuna: "I hope so! I'm starting to quite enjoy my time cooking in this world... and here, this is the last of the dishes for the table, but I feel like it's missing something?"

Y/N: "hmmm... I might have something, I've been working on a project but I'm not sure how good it'll be..."

Asuna: "Oh? Well, if you don't mind us trialling whatever it is for you then you can place it in that gap there?"

Y/N: "s-sure, now to remember what I named it... P-Roll-Att7 I think?"

I then navigate through my inventory and find my most recent attempt, it was indeed named what I vaguely remembered.

Asuna: "P-Roll-Att7? That's an oddly scientific naming schema... are you a sciencey person?"

Y/N: "hmm... I just like to have my inventory nice and organised I guess, makes finding things easier and means I can rollback to a previous attempt if I mess up."

Asuna: "... so I'll take that as a yes?"

Y/N: "i- I didn't hate science I suppose, but I did a lot of programming a while ago- so I guess maybe that contributed a little bit... and you? You much into any sciences?"

Asuna: "mmmm... I'm still not sure, my family are but I was still finding my footing I guess... so, what's P-Roll-Att7?"

Y/N: "Oh right! Here:"

I then materialised the project and within my hands appears a place covered by a small metallic silver cloche, I place the plate down in the space on the table that Asuna allocated for me and then remove the cloche...

Asuna: "Oh! Cream Puffs! Wow, that's so cool that you could replicate them so well!-"

Argo: "-Knock knock chefs! Are ya ready for the horde to come in here? Seems some of us are gettin' a bit restless!"

Asuna: "o- oh, sure! I think that's everything now. But be sure to tell those that were sitting on dining chairs to bring them back in here so we've got enough seats in here for us all!"

Argo: "Yes ma'am!"

Argo then returns from whence she came back to the living room, assumedly to relay Asuna's confirmation and message to the others.

Asuna: "So why did you call it P-Roll-Att7 if they're Cream Puffs?"

Y/N: "Well, I guess that's because I prefer their other name, in Japan most people know them as Cream Puffs but, at least from the country I learnt about them from, they were called Profiteroles-"
