Kaneki POV

"Maya please, don't shut me out. Just talk to me." I sat down on the bed whispering to her. Carful not to wake Kou.

"There's nothing to discuss. Your leaving and that's that." She huffed out loud as she rolled over onto her side, facing away from me.

My hand came out grabbing her shoulder, yanking her onto her back as I brought myself further onto the bed, looking down at her now.

"Maya... baby don't. Not tonight, tomorrow... tomorrow is special for us. For all of us, I don't want to ruin that by clouding your mind with possibilities that may not even happen. I can protect myself Maya, I'm a good fighter. Haven't I proven that enough?" I brought my hand up to push back some stray strands of hair. Looking in her eyes as she spoke.

"That's not the point! You can't dodge a bullet! I don't want this, I never asked for any of this. I didn't sign up to become a new mom alone. Your supposed to be here, with us. Both of us, teaching your son right from wrong, things only a fathers can." She pushed herself up to sit on the bed, bringing her face inches from mine.

"Kaneki I want you here. I want you home and safe with us, there has to be a way to undo this. Like Y/N said, there has to be a way I just know it." Her eyes were filling with tears.

I hated seeing her like this. Even when we were little and she'd fall and scrape her knee, I'd always panic the second her eyes filled with tears. I just wanted her happy, she was so precious to me.

"Maya... I will come back. I'll come back home to both of you, and when I do. ...We will make a house of our own, with many bedrooms. And fill them all with children, our children. Give Kou many bothers and sisters. We will have the life we always dreamed of I promise." I brought my lips to hers. And then to her eyes, kissing away her tears.

"Don't make promises you don't know if you will be able to keep Kaneki. You... you could die over there. Kou would never know who his father was, he could miss out on so much. Please if not for me, stay for hi-

"It's always been you though Maya, since we were children. It's always you, it always will be. You are enough reason alone to stay, so stop selling yourself short. I want to, I want to be here for it all. I don't want to miss a thing, not a moment of his beauty or yours. I don't want to blink. I feel like I'm just retracing the steps of my old man. I never truly knew how much pain he was in, until now. It hurts Maya, to have your family taken from you. It really hurts." She continued to look back and forth between my eyes, bringing her hand up to my cheek.

"I tried, I even went to headquarters with Dad. It only made matters worse, they laid eyes on him and now he's stuck too. Y/N..... she will be there too. I've seen her fight, you have too. She's not a woman when she fights, she has the skills of a full fledge man. She hits like one too, I have no doubt in my mind we will all make it back, we're Ackermans after all. You too, as of tomorrow." I brought my hand to the back of her head, bringing her forehead down for me to kiss.

"Kaneki.... just come home, no matter what you have to do... Just make it back here alive. For us." She turned her head, looking to our sleeping son. He was wrapped tightly in blankets, asleep in his cradle.

The same one Levi had helped me make not to long ago. He painted it white, said it looked better then the shit brown wood. Typical Levi, everything has to be perfect. I couldn't blame him, the white did look better. Universal to either sex, meaning how we didn't know if Kou was a boy or girl until he arrived. A nice surprise indeed.
