The Pillar of Autumn (Halo-Combat Evolved)

The endless darkness void of space is a lonely place to be. A large cruiser which is known as The Pillar of Autumn which soars alongside Longswords which escorts the cruiser as they travelled through the void of space.

Captain Keyes: "Cortana, all I need to know is did we lose them?"

Cortana: "I think we both know the answer to that."

The Autumn is shown slowly drifting off towards Installation 04.

Captain Keyes: "How is our patient doing"

Cortana: "He is in stable conditions and will survive"

Cortana looked away from Captain Keyes as her mind wondered.

Captain Keyes: "When he wakes up thank him"

Cortana turns her head to Keyes with a puzzled look on her face wondering how the hell did he know what she was thinking. She turned to look back at the empty void of space with a darker blue tone appearing on her cheeks as she was thinking about the spartan who saved her.

Captain Jacob Keyes: (sighs) "We made a blind jump. How did they—"

Cortana: "Get here first? The Covenant ships have always been faster. As for tracking us all the way from Reach...at light speed, my maneuvering options were limited."

Keyes begins pacing around, looking at viewscreens.

Captain Jacob Keyes: "We were running dark, yes?"

Cortana: "Until we decelerated. No one could have missed the hole we tore in subspace."

Keyes looks at a bridge crewman's console.

Cortana: "They were waiting for us on the far side of the planet."

The crewman presses some buttons. The screen shows a diagram of Threshold with Installation 04 in orbit.

Captain Jacob Keyes: "So, where do we stand?"

Cortana: "Our fighters are mopping up the last of their recon picket now, nothing serious."

Keyes examines the main screen, pulls his pipe out of his mouth and shakes some ash off it. He closes his eyes wearily.

Cortana: (continues) "But I've isolated approach signatures from multiple CCS-class battle groups, make it three capital ships per group. And in about 90 seconds they'll be all over us."

Captain Jacob Keyes: "Well, that's it then. Bring the ship back up to Combat Alert Alpha. I want everyone at their stations."

Cortana: "Everyone, sir?"

Captain Jacob Keyes: "Everyone."

Alarm klaxon sounds. Crewmen run towards their stations.

Captain Jacob Keyes: "And Cortana..."

Cortana's avatar appears.

Cortana: "Hmm?"

Captain Jacob Keyes: "...let's give our old friend and our new friend a warm welcome."

Cortana: "I've already begun."

You are on a medical bed in the hospital wing, with your damaged spartan armour on the bed next to you, looking at Jorge's dog tags as memories of Nobel Team and the events that led you to were you are flash through your mind. You would not even be alive if it was not for Emile. Suddenly a blue AI or sorts appeared on a panel next to your bed. You recognised this AI to be Cortana the AI you saved back on reach.

Cortana: "I see your awake good the Captain wants to see you on the bridge right away"

You look back at your damaged armour wondering how your gonna get that repaired.
