Staring ahead of yourself in the mirror, you could not help but feel the increasing heart rate of yours. You knew of your Quidditch abilities; you knew you were an incredible player. You hadn't lost a game since third year. Quidditch had become such a huge part of you; it truly held an important place in your heart. It was the one thing that provided you with danger and thrill, but did not include violence (kind of) and fights. The thrill of being able to control your broom in such a skilled manner was perhaps the best of all.

You thought it a shame that Draco was not participating in the games. You were still convinced of the truth that he had told you - that he had to study and did not have time for Quidditch, especially not at such a high and intense level. You did not know the truth, still, for Draco never bothered to tell you. He'd only told Blaise, and occasionally random people who asked and he trusted would not go on to tell you - that he did not wish to participate, so that you could be the one to win the name of Quidditch. So that he could be there for you, celebrating your victory. He did not want people coming up to the both of you, congratulating you both, he wanted them to only approach you, congratulate you, tell you how amazing you are, and he also wished to be one of the people to run up to you, hug you, spin you around, tell you how proud he is of you, how amazing you are at Quidditch.

Draco was an incredible player at Quidditch. Everyone knew that. The two of you started to play Quidditch together back in first year, and therefore your skills developed over time together. Your initial hatred for each other brought on the rivalry and therefore the strong desire to win from either side. This brought on constant practice, constant rivalry, and therefore the constant increasing of your skills. Had you and Draco been on opposing teams, a victory would have been a distant memory from either side, for neither of you would be able to beat the other.

You were known for your Quidditch skills, of course, for you were reckless and were not afraid to risk your own life for the ridiculous Snitch. But Draco; everyone knew silently that he was just as good as [F/n] Potter. No one would dare to play against either of you. And that is why a Slytherin victory has been secured since third year.

It was always quite an incredible sight, you see, whenever you and Draco would emerge onto the field together, both wearing your green outfits with all your gear ready. You would have your hair done protectively, and Draco's would be messy as usual. You would both be holding your brooms, emerging onto the field, laughing together. It was quite interesting, indeed, how the two of you managed to pair yourselves so well in every situation. Whether it was a Quidditch game - you still looked just as perfect and well-suited as when you would be wearing a burgundy, satin dress and he a tux for a formal dinner. Some would say you were made for each other.

But in this game, Draco had left you alone.

Though you were a confident individual, there was always a kind of fear in the back of your mind when it came to competing in matters like this. Your heart was racing more than during the war, probably. And, looking in the mirror, you could see the anxiety in your own face.

I needn't be so nervous. I'm possibly the best player in Hogwarts. Thank God I'm not competing against Draco, though.

And you fixed your hair, fixed your gear, flashed yourself some more looks, and then exhaled readily.

You didn't know what you were more nervous about. The fact that this was an audition and the judge's eyes were going to be on you, or whether it was going to be the fact that it was open for everyone, and you could already hear the cheers outside in the audience, as it had been filled completely with a large crowd of an audience. All houses were filled, and you knew that you had eyes from every house. Everyone who was playing today on your team, and opposing, was auditioning for the role they were playing. Houses did not matter, for this was a school-wide competition, and therefore the best players overall were needed, no matter their house. There was only one other Slytherin on your team for the game, and he was auditioning to be the Keeper. You, of course, were the Seeker. Because who else, after all those years?
