"What's her full name, Snape?"

Snape lowered his book, which he seemed invested in, but inevitably prioritised speaking to you. He sipped on his tea before replying, as though he was putting off the saying of the name.

"Ursula Yaxley."

You paused momentarily, staring at him. He broke the eye contact with you and lifted his book again, continuing to read it, but peeking over at you every couple of seconds when he noticed you weren't replying immediately, and were instead deep in thought, as though trying to remember something.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked.

"Yaxley? I've heard the name before ... no ... I've seen the name before." You thought carefully, retracing your entire life and anywhere where you may have seen the name. It was somewhere in there, somewhere in your memory.

"I'm sure you haven't."

"Has a Yaxley married a Black by any chance?"

Snape gulped. His eyes turned from their calm manner into a more defensive one - almost a glare.

"Yes. How do you know that?"

"Fuck - what was her name? It was a woman's name. I'm sure of it."

He sighed, placing the book down.

"Lysandra Black."

"That's it! It was on the Black tapestry. Their family ... Lysandra Black Yaxley."

"How did you manage to remember that, [F/n]?"

"I don't know. Certain names stick. Wizard memory or some shit like that."

Snape squinted his eyes suspiciously before lifting the book and continuing to read. You sat around for some time longer, doing your own thing in his office. He continued to read his book in silence, looking over at you every five minutes to catch what you were doing and to make sure you weren't causing trouble. For the next half hour, however, all you did was wander about his office, limping around, and picking up random books, opening them and flipping through, putting them back into the bookshelf and moving to the next book. When you got bored of the books, you moved onto touching random belongings of Snape. Walking around him, around his desk, around his entire office. He did not say anything, only occasionally watched you and raised a confused eyebrow.

"Would you ever become my legal guardian?" You finally asked out loud, in a quick and panicked exhale, standing on the other end of his office, not wishing to be too close to him in fear. The question had been on your mind for some time, but you could feel your nerves growing in panic upon asking it; Snape was a cold person, and you knew that a rejection was likely. And with a rejection, you knew your heart would shatter, and who knew how long it'd take to pick yourself back up. You were placing yourself in another vulnerable position. Those were rare, but you decided that they ought to become more common. It was time to speak your heart more.

Snape was taken aback by the question. His jaw opened lightly, and he was even forced to put the book down onto the desk, left to stare at you with eyes of horror. No one spoke for at least fifteen seconds, both just staring at each other across the office, and you could see the sweat begin to prickle on Snape's forehead, making you panic even more.

"[F/n] ... "

"Actually, yeah, it was quite a ridiculous question." You huffed out. "You've got your own life, I forgot, lol, sorry about that. It'd be weird anyway, actually. And I'm an adult now anyway. I don't really need a legal guardian. Oh, well. Anyway, I was supposed to meet Draco. I'll see you later."
