Chapter 78 - Let her go

LA Private Hospital
Lizzie POV

"Hi..." She says quietly from her spot at the door.

"Visiting hours are ending" I say ignoring her as I turn back around to sort out the bed sheets.

"I know it's just..." I hear her stutter behind me before she sighs deeply.

"I just had to see her" She says quietly, making me stop my task and turn around to face her.

"So it takes her being put in a coma for you to see her" I point out bitterly and watch as she opens her mouth to say something, but looks down in shame when she can't.

"I know you hate me but-" She goes to say but I cut her off.

"-No, I don't hate you, I don't feel a thing towards you, you mean nothing to me, and you certainly don't mean anything to her anymore" I say starting to get fed up with her being here.

"Look I get that you two are all lovey dovey now, but you don't know the history behind this-" She snaps back.

"-that's where you're wrong, I know everything, she told me herself how you treated her, and how it's your fault she completely broke, I should know, I was the one picking her up like she did for me" I bite back taking a step forward.

That shut her up.

She looks at me with pure hate in her eyes before they move back over to Y/N, her eyes now instantly soften to a look of guilt.

"You're right...and I'll never be able to make up for that, no matter how much I try to...there's never going to be the right words to tell her how sorry I truly am" She admits quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.

I look at her disconcertingly, trying to figure out the reason she's even here if she believes all that.

Why bother now?

Hasn't she hurt her enough?

"I do love her you know..." She speaks up, her voice still low as she looks over at me hesitantly.

My stomach drops, I know I have nothing to worry about but it's still not a great feeling to hear your partners ex confess they still have feelings for them to you.

"Then let her go." I say softly, not having the strength to fight anymore.

She stares blankly at me for a moment before looking back at Y/N, a single tear falling down her cheek.

She swallows harshly before nodding and quietly leaves like none of this even happened.

I keep my gaze on where she stood, the strange feeling in my stomach now passing as the beeping noise from the machines fill my ears once again.

Reminding me that my heart is still fighting for her life behind me.

I kiss her softly as we continue to roll back and forth in the bed, giggling against her lips as our hands roam all over each other.

"I'll never get tired of this" She whispers against my lips before pushing hers back on mine.

I hum "You and me both" I mumble and smile which causes her to as well, breaking the kiss completely and makes us giggle for a bit.

She finally rests on her back with my chin resting on her chest as she stares up at the ceiling, my eyes looking over her face.

Her race is soon and it's scaring me more with each passing minute.

"Hey, what's wrong?" She asks softly, her gaze now back on me as her hand runs up and down my bare back.

"Nothing I just.... I love you, and I can't imagine my life without you, and it haunts me to think I could loose you one day." I admit sheepishly, my voice sounding small and quiet.

"I love you too, so much you don't even know, and you won't loose me okay, I'm right here, for as long you want me." She tells me softly, her eyes showing nothing but pure love, melting my heart all over again.

As much as the words comforted me, I still had this strange feeling at the pit of my heart.

I jolt awake, remembering that day clearer than ever.

It felt all too real, as if I was in her arms again, listening to her soft voice, but the only thing I can hear is the heart monitor at the side of her bed, beeping away to remind me none of it was real, only just a distant memory...
