"Channel five steady?"

"Steady on channel five."

Steve stared at me as I finished putting my thigh holster on.

"You want to talk about last night?"

"No I don't."

Steve gave me a look. "I don't regret it."

"Good to know Rogers. I do."

ONE MONTH EARLIER

"Agent Thomas. I've assigned you with Captain Rogers for the next three months. I have missions pop up here and there and I think you two would make a good team." Fury said.

"What? He's an old man. How would we ever make a good team?"

"Because I said so." He said sternly. I rolled my eyes.

"When is our first mission?"

"Tonight." He said. He handed me the file.

Two lost teenagers in a warehouse.

"How is this shield's problem?"

"It's Sandy's kids. From statistics." Fury said.

"Shit. Who has them?"

"Kiss your mama with that mouth?" He asked.

"Yeah sometimes I kiss her grave." I said. He sighed and sat back.

I heard fury's door open.

"What's Thomas doing here?" Steve asked as he came in.

"You two are now partners." Fury said.

"What?" Steve said as he sat down next to me.

"Don't act so excited about it." I said.

"You really think I'm excited to work with you?" He asked.

"Yes." I smiled.

"Alright. If you two act like this you're going to have a long three months." Fury said.

"Awh that sucks." I said.

"Fury-"

"No. Just act like adults." Fury said. "Dismissed."

Steve and I walked out. He held the door for me. I didn't say anything.

"You know Sandy from statistics? Her kids were captured by what we think is her ex boyfriend. We normally wouldn't do something like this but it's a child of a shield member."

"So we're doing police work?" Steve said sarcastically. I went to the elevator.

"Ground floor. Yes." I said.

"Or maybe it's because you're a former FBI agent. Little ms detective gets the little assignments I suppose."

"At least all my talent is natural born. I wasn't made all from a serum." I spit.

He sighed and got out of the elevator. I walked with him.

"Let's just get this over with." He said.
