XLI. \\ DANCES WITH WOLFBLOODS //
After the way things ended at Shannon's, Aden went straight home to both get herself ready for the dance and to check on Maddy to make sure she was alright. Despite being irritated with Shan, Aden wasn't going to let what happened ruin her night, and she hoped that it wouldn't ruin Maddy's.
But still, when she got back, Aden went straight to her room, seeing the door open. She glanced inside and saw Maddy sitting on her bed, looking sad.
"Hey," Aden knocked against her doorway, "You okay?"
Maddy looked up from her pillow, seeing her standing in the doorway, and she looked like she had been crying. It looked like she was on the verge of tears now.
"I really messed up, didn't I?" Her voice cracked a little.
Aden sighed as she walked in, sitting down on the bed across from her. She hated seeing Maddy like this, and while she was beyond mad with Shannon for hurting her sister like this, she tried her best to keep her anger at bay.
"Maddy, this is not your fault. None of this is." Aden told her, "Shan filmed us without our permission and that data almost led to the discovery of what we are. There was no way she could have it and we'd be safe. And she has no right to be mad at you for any of that."
Maddy sighed in response, knowing she was right.
"And you were just trying to watch out for Shan," She continued, "We did the right thing in trying to warn her. She shouldn't have yelled at you that way for trying to protect her from getting hurt."
Maddy was quiet, seeming to think about everything she was saying. Part of Aden wanted for things to work out and that they could become friends like they used to be, but the other part of her wanted Maddy to know she didn't deserve the way Shan had been treating her.
"I'm going to get ready for the dance," Aden told her as she stood up from the bed, "Are you still coming?"
Maddy looked up at her, and Aden could see it in her eyes that she still planned to go. And she could also see the reason she was.
