XLII. \\ RESURRECTED //
Aden's world had been completely shaken.
Everything she had once known to be true was immediately shattered in the moment her eyes met her brother's.
Her brother who had been dead.
Her brother who was standing in front of her right now, very much alive and breathing.
Aden couldn't think properly, she couldn't speak, she could barely breathe.
Everything was blurred around her, and the next thing she knew, she was in her brother's arms.
He was pulling her close and Aden was hugging him back, but she was stiff, still in shock that Kai was there, holding onto her.
"I..." Kai breathed out, "I can't believe it's really you."
Aden wanted to speak, she wanted to tell him so many things. But her heart was beating so loud in her chest and she was struggling to get air into her lungs. Tears stung the brims of her eyes as she tried to find a way to breathe properly again.
And Rhydian must have sensed that she was on the verge of a panic attack, because he spoke up quietly, "Aden, why don't we go back to your house? It's probably best we sort this out there."
And since she couldn't even speak, Aden just nodded, stepping away from her brother's embrace. Looking up at him, seeing his own eyes watery as they looked back at hers, it was almost unbearable.
Aden cleared her throat, "Follow us?"
Kai nodded immediately, and with her mind racing, somehow her feet started carrying her home, with Rhydian leading the way and Kai following behind them.
The whole way there Aden's mind swarmed with unbelievable thoughts and her heart thumped hard against the walls of her chest. She had to keep the tears in because she wanted to cry from being so overwhelmed.
When they reached the Smith house, Aden stopped at the end of the driveway, and looked up at her house. Her parents and Maddy would be inside...and Aden had a lot of explaining to do. Explaining about something she didn't even fully understand herself.
