As we sat for dinner, Jeanette looked a bit perplexed.

"Where is Ahmed and Nazir?" She asked.

"Oh, they said that they'll be eating in their guest villa." Gerard said.

"Excuse me. How can I call over to the guest villa?" Jeanette asked the chef.

"Just dial 121 from any phone in the house." He instructed.

Picking up the nearby phone, Jeanette dialed the number.

"Salaam Nazir. I know that it's not normal protocol, but you and Ahmed will be having dinner with us."

She was cut off, but the tone in her voice changed.

"I am not asking Nazir; on the nights when we have dinner together, you and Ahmed will sit at the table with us. Understood?....Good, hurry over." She hung up.

"Why did they think they couldn't eat with us?" Michelle asked.

Jeanette smiled at her.

"It's kind of difficult for me to explain, but it's because of certain traditions that we have." Jeanette said.

"Like what?" Michelle inquired.

"Traditionally royals and their staff don't eat together, but my mom changed that. My Uncle Hakeem and some of the elders don't like it, but my mom doesn't care. She says that if you can't eat at the same table with the people who's willing to give their life for you, then everyone should starve." Preston giggled.

Michelle looked a little confused. Looking at Jeanette, I could tell that she was trying to put it all together, and as her eyes widened, Jeanette just gave her a coy wink. Before Michelle could say anything, Nazir and Ahmed entered the dining room.

"Empress." They both slightly bowed.

When Jeanette said something to them in Arabic, I noticed that they both slightly smiled and took their seats at the table.

"Thank you, but you know Hakeem is going to have a fit." Ahmed said.

"I'll handle my Godfather, but he knows how I feel about that. I know that you two don't like it, but you also love me for it." She smiled.

Nazir just smiled at her, but Ahmed looked uneasy.

"I think certain traditions are good." He said.

"As my father once said, even traditions can be curtailed from generation to generation. So be easy Ahmed; relax dear friend." Jeanette teased.

Ahmed slightly chuckled as Nazir laughed at her sense of humor.

"If you don't mind me asking, how long have you worked for Hakeem?" Kirk asked.

"We don't work for Hakeem, we work with Hakeem, but we all work for her." Nazir pointed his head toward Jeanette.

Kirk looked confused. Then looking at Jeanette, he leaned in.

"Do you have the capability of firing Hakeem?" He asked.

Nazir, Ahmed, and even Preston looked taken back by Kirk's question. The three of them looked at Jeanette as she calmly answered.

"Only God can fire Hakeem honey, and don't ever forget that." Jeanette said with certainty.

"But if he works for you, and if he does things you don't agree with, why can't you fire him?"

"In my mind, going against him, is going against God and my father. I know that Hakeem may not be your favorite person, but don't ever think, ask, or mention him in any capacity of him not being in the position he's in. It's offensive." Jeanette sternly looked at Kirk.
