I don't know what's going on. This must be a trick, a trap to lure me into a false sense of security. I can't just believe this, not not, not ever.

This was all that had been going through my mind for nearly a day now as I made a long walk back. Back home?

Home?

Was I really going home? I had been let down so often, for so long, with false promises: Turo's Time Machine, the Space-Time Distortions, Ultra Space. After all of that, all that hardship and letdown, I'm back in the blink of an eye. No hellbent fight, no do or die situation.

Not even a goodbye...

Being caught with my pants down, I was highly unprepared for the cold environments of Sinnoh compared to the warmer summer of Unova... Sinnoh? This was Sinnoh; there's no possible way I'm in Hisui. I cannot accept that, not until I see them all again. I dragged my feet. It wasn't long before I saw what I had been dreaming of for so long. The long summer nights, I was playing near the walls. The festivals and mornings help my mum with the washing. Jubilife Village.

I was, for better words, exhausted, having not stopped once for a break. I hadn't eaten, set up a fire or drank anything. Those weren't important right now. I reached the gate to home, but it was closed. There wasn't a soul in sight; banging lightly on the door, I felt my eyelids succumbing to my desires. Slouched against the gate, I began sliding down, unable to make another move. Shivering, I was so close, yet I just needed to rest my eyes for a bit...

"Where's Y/N? What do you mean you haven't seen him?" Nemona said in a worry.

"Y/N? I haven't heard from him for a while, maybe he forgot about silly old me? Nah, I'll use my imagination; he's out there. We'll meet again... I hope." Zinnia echoed.

"Y/N, hmm, yes, I see. So, no one else has seen him. How worrying! Keep looking. We leave no agent behind." Looker expressed.

"Who, oh yeah, I know Y/N! He's that awesome trainer with Droopy! He helped me catch my first Pokemon; I promised him we would battle one day... What do you mean no one has seen him? Is he lost?" Hope questioned.

"The child is missing? How fitting; perhaps he finally realised the difference between our power and ran away. No one can stand against the might of Team Rainbow Rocket." Giovanni smirked.

"Y/N... Y/N... Please... Don't leave me." Mimi cried.

I woke up in a panic, barely holding on as dawn began to rise. I covered my face, falling back as the gates to Jubilife village opened. Lying on my back, I was disoriented, fresh tears down my face as I turned around. The gatekeeper, alongside Professor Laventon, were waiting, both speechless, staring at me like they saw a ghost.

"Y-Y-Y/N!?" The Professor shouted.

My heart was racing to look at everything I had left; it was all where I had left it. Nothing had changed; this can't be right. No, I can't be home. This isn't fair; you can't play with my heart like that. Slowly crawling to my feet, I stepped back, overwhelmed as more of the village took notice, quickly approaching. Arezu, Kamado, Cyllene, Mai and Akari. All my dearly beloved friends and family. My eyes kept darting to each one, overwhelmed with emotions; I felt my legs moving away. I was ready to run; I couldn't take this; I didn't deserve this. Not now.

This can't be

"Y/N!?" My heart stopped hearing my name, that voice. I couldn't take it; I started crying as I saw my mum pushing through the crowd. Our eyes met for but a second as she sprinted towards me, pulling me in for an embrace. I didn't hug her back, staring blankly ahead. "My baby boy! Oh, thank Arceus, thank you!"
